I am very persnickety about seasonings in general (usually underwhelming and too salty) but this stuff is THEE BOMB. (My fellow millennials know what I'm saying) Please never stop making this! Even includes bay leaf which is *always* missing from a good birria. Literally buy these 10 at a time because I fear they'll go to the wayside.
I've recently been trying new recipes and found this BetterGoods Carnitas seasoning. I used it on boneless country style pork ribs, cut into smaller pieces. After marinating overnight in Orange Juice and then adding the seasoning packet, I cooked them in a skillet/frying pan. They turned out SO good and I ordered several more packets to keep on hand. I think the seasoning would work well on pork chops or roasts and chicken. Flavorful, mild and not spicy at all.
I took a chance on this because I expected too much heat. But it was perdect! SO GOOD I used boneless chicken thighs. cut the meat into strips. and proceeded with instructions. I used pineapple tidbits. right out of the can into dish when done. The whole can. I used 4 big thighs Great job McCormicks. A little sweet a little smokey and a little spicy but not too much. Not really hot but you can really taste the chilies they used. I served over sauted frozen caiiflower rice. WILL make this over and over!
I used this to make pork carnitas and they were great!! I cooked the meat in the crockpot using the bettergoods carnitas seasoning with some orange juice. After the meat had cooked in the crockpot I shredded it and placed it in a castiron skillet with some of the juice. I let it simmer in the skillet for a few minutes and it was ready to enjoy. Definitely will buy again.
I do not give many 5 star reviews, there's almost always something that I would improve, but this is a 5 star all the way for me. We love this and I make a triple batch every month. Great flavor! Great value! And very easy to make in the instant pot!
This far exceeded my expectations. I had about a lb of pork roast that I made earlier in the week. I pulled that out and shredded it. Added it to a pan with a couple splashes of OJ and half this packet. It is incredible. After I got it all warmed together I put the meat on a tray in my air fryer oven and crisped it up. So tasty! We're having carnitas quesadillas tonight!
A very good seasoning blend. We add it to slow cooked, smoked pork shoulder and mix that with cooked peppers, onions, and wild rice to make a delicious burrito filling.
I originally received a pack of this in a sampler pack of items several months ago and stuck it in with my other seasoning packs, where it sat, ignored. I finally tried it and immediately bought more!
I have been trying for a while now to make carnitas. THIS turned out great. The recipe on the package was the best one I have tried. AND it was super easy.
I used this to make carnitas and all I can taste is this concentrated citrus flavor. Which is weird because I even added extra water and a coke and nope all I taste is the nasty orange flavor. Also I thought I mixed it well but it clumped up at the bottom of the pan and started burning. I did make it on the stove instead of in the pressure cooker. Thought I'd mention that in case someone thinks it'll make a difference. But honestly you don't need this. Carnitas only has a few ingredients. Meat, lard, garlic, onion, orange, salt, bay leaves, water and a Mexican coke. Their Birria seasoning is really good though! That recipe from scratch takes forever.
