This was something I stumbled across like a dinosaur finding a tar pit. This is some serious tasting comfort food in my home. Get yourself a bowl, tear up a piece of bread and throw it in the bowl, pour the Dinty Moore stew in the bowl and nuke it in a microwave for a couple of minutes. You are set for some good eatin'. To tell you how good this really is, my cats get the leftover and they even eat the carrots and potatoes. When was the last time you saw your cats eating potatoes? Get some Dinty Moore and watch the little carnivores turn into little omnivores.
I buy this for my husband as he likes it when he has been working all day and just wants a quick, hot meal. It is less salty than the regular beef stew which makes it easier to eat. I usually pair it with a couple of hot biscuits or sometimes we scoop a little into a warm flour tortilla, fold and eat “taco style”. The taste is not as good as my Dad's homemade beef stew, but good enough for a canned option.
Just as I remembered from my younger camping days as a child! Rich, full of meat and veggies! Delicious! Nice easy meal when I'm in a hurry or if I don't feel like cooking! Yum!!!
Almost tastes like it is homemade. Besides the taste, the best thing is the amount of beef. The amount of beef in each can is wonderful, and justifies the price. The meat is very tender, easy to digest, and it is not too salty. The gravy is not too thin. Paired with Ritz, it is a good midday snack, or easy dinner for one.
I have been buying it for years - when you are tired -with little time to cook and Dinty Moore is there - saves time and energy- hot and good with little effort - just what you need on a cold day or night- good hot meal you love so ready so quickly =you don't get tired of you but when you are tired and worn out a hot bowl of good stew is always there
So, I got this for a family member, they no longer wanted it, and I wanted to make room on the shelf and decided to eat it. I'm a salt lover. I had it with great value saltines and I felt it was too watery and I did taste the difference. I needed more salt. I do think this will be better for those not trying to consume as much salt and feel that normal canned goods have too much salt.
The advantage of this can of stew is the shelf-stable and warm, ready to eat food to have in home for any reason. A child can prepare it if a parent is ill. It's a time saver and it can be a budget extender. It has a unique flavor that is memorable. It fills the tummy and helps one manage to have a warm meal even if they're not feeling up to cooking stew with fresh ingredients.
I have eaten Dinty Moore stew for years. I like it but just too much sodium. I tried the reduced sodium but it still had too much sodium for healthy eating. The reduced sodium unfortunately really changed the flavor. I didn't like the taste with the lower sodium. Very bland.
Received 5 cans of the stew not 6. My chia seeds are where the 6th can should have been!
Nasty to the taste. If there was a cheaper brand I don't know much nasty it could get than this. Potatoes were not done, mostly beef broth than anything else. I never knew Dinty Moore could ever get this bad….!!!
