There are only 2 of us, so a bag of fresh potatoes often went bad, and it is rather expensive to buy them by the pound. I started buying these, as well as the whole ones, for recipes. After a quick rinse, they are a terrific substitute for fresh cooked. I use them for home fries, potato salads, and the whole ones in soups and stews. The price is great, they are handy, and always available for a quick decision when you want some for breakfast or supper. I love the convenience!
Need a quick clam chowder for dinner? Fry some bacon to a nice crisp. Remove and leave about 2tblp grease in pan. Add chopped onion, celery and sweat. Add clam juice to your liking and reduce. Add a can or two Great Value Evaporated milk. Let it get happy. Add canned potatoes and bring them to temp. Add more canned chopped sea clams than you should. Cook to nicely warm. Do not boil. Thicken with a handful of crushed saltines. Stir. Season with fresh ground pepper and maybe some fresh thyme. Stir some more. Serve with minced bacon as garnish. I offer Crystal Sauce to liven things up.
i gave these a try one day as paralysis in my hands makes peeling and cutting potatoes difficult. i love to use them.in soup. for country potatoes with lots of caramelized onions and in casseroles. they taste.like potatoes, without any off flavor. they have made cooking much easier and tastier for me..
These are the most amazing best kept secret and Im mad no one told me about this! Ive made these up in the air fryer for breakfast burrito batches and sheesh! What a breeze! Plus if you have ADHD like me and ur potatoes end up making more potatoes in the front yard more often than you actually eat them.... these have shelf life and dont go bad cuz they're canned!!! for holidays these make hosting a snap, and use them in stews, you name it.
Love potato salad but in a hurry? Whip up your dressing, drain and rinse these canned, diced potatoes, a little finely diced onion and mix them together. chill your salad (even in the freezer for 20 minutes or so). VOILA!!! Potato salad your grandma would pat you in the back for!!! I'm in my 70's and make this weekly. It's become a staple in my diet. Great with bbq (Lloyd's is really good), Gorton's fish, or fried chicken. I get rave reviews without the peeling, dicing, or having to cool the potatoes before mixing my salad! Enjoy!
Very Excellent tasty and well prepared potato chuncks. Good amount in one can for a few good meals. The price is fantastic, considering the potatoes and the preparation that is done for eating them them. They are easily delivered with all of the other things ordered onlie!
I am reviewing these that I give to my elderly chihuahua to help keep weight on her - she gets sick of rice all the time. I add some of these potatoes to her other food and she loves them.
These are great to have on hand for an easy dinner or breakfast. I love frying them up to eat with. scrambled eggs. They fry up just like any other potato but without the hassle of having to dice them yourself, saving so much time
I take a can of these and drain off the water and fry them up in my grandmother‘s cast-iron frying pan and at the end as they're nice crispy and brown in the frying pan is hot. I pour in five very well beaten eggs with salt, pepper, cilantro, garlic powder, mixed in with it, and turn the heat off and just let the residual heat cook the eggs and when I come back in a few minutes, I've got potato and egg mixture for breakfast tacos
These always get delivered super dented %26 we throw them away so we get botulism food poisoning which can be fatal. Other brands aren't ever dented but this one 100% of the time arrives on delivery or pick up dented.
