I like these chickpeas, in 1%23 bags, to open, rinse, pour into the slow cooker, and add two inches of water above the bean line. Set to cook on high, and cook for 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours (different slow cookers will vary in time). After the set time, I check the beans. They may or may not need additional time. Then they are drained, rinsed, and are ready to use. No more pre-soaking! Normally I cook a double batch, and will freeze the excess or make hummus.
Soak overnight, cook a large batch and freeze the rest in portions. Now you've got great protein to reheat, put on salads or make hummus. No brainer purchase.
We buy these very often. We make our on hummus, which by the way is super easy and will taste better than any purchased one. We also use them in our rice, in our soups, and we feed them to our dogs. Cold we like to put them in our toss salads and in our tuna and chicken salad. Try them they are very good.
I strongly prefer dried beans to canned. I know there isn't too much of a difference but the weird smell from the cans is always off-putting and soaking the beans myself allows me to do it in a place with more airflow to prevent as much acute exposure to the smell. The taste is as good as I've really gotten from any other place. The beans are very versatile and meaningfully contribute a variety of textures to different dishes whether they be roasted and crunchy or blended and smooth.
I make hummus and use daily as lunch or part of dinner. This product is a Great Value if not the best in the USA in terms of cheap and healthy food. We love chickpeas and cook two 16 oz bags at a time in the Instapot. So for $3 we get a huge batch of hummus that lasts two weeks and extra chickpeas to add in with our vegetarian dinners. Most will spend $3 on small McDs fry nowdays. Our $3 feeds with many many meals.
I'm not sure if I did something wrong but they didn't swell up to be too big when I soak them overnight but I don't have any complaints they taste delicious
Always sells out quick because these bags of Great Value Chick pea Garbanzo beans is better quality than major brands and just as good as the expensive online bean sellers. I have not had a bad bean from these Garbanzo beans from Great Value unlike the most common Great Value beans. Excellent value.
The chickpeas cook up well and taste better than canned beans. Love to add these to soups, hummus, rice dishes, and casseroles. Good price for the size package.
love chick peas I usually buy the cans but all of these bags you get for that price they make wonderful hummus and different salads to make with them and are so good and healthy for your diet great fiber as well.
Maybe I got a poor crop but, the chick peas still had husks on them. After rinsing the dry beans I had tons of husks remaining in the sink. After cooking, same husk residue. Tastes great but not impressed with raw product. Never had that happen before. I've enjoyed this product for years and will buy again. Price keeps increasing and the quality is declining.
