(6 pack) Great Value Chili Starter, 15 oz

The caveat in the product intro is because this stuff can be pretty hot. i like some spice but an entire can that quite a few recipies call for makes chili or taco souo waaaay to hot for my taste. Usually about 1/2 can with diced plain tomatoes or tomato sauce helps make a nice liquid to put the beans in and chili seasoning package.

Id never actually seen this before and tried it because I love tomatoes and I love some sizzle. I make a lot of recipes with many veggies, especially tomatoes, hot peppers, seasoning with a sizzle, hot sauce etc and this was all of that in one can. We used it in our meat mixture for tacos and as a topping with the cheese. This is great not only for chilli but with eggs, as a dip with chips and of course in and on our tacos. I am going to try it in soup as well with my little Italian meatball soup.

First time using Great Value Chili starter and it was great. It wasn't hot but had a little warmth to it, flavor was great. No more package chili seasoning. This is much better, easier and faster. Just brown ground beef., add chili starter and a can of dark red kidney beans and simmer. It is also cheaper than buying seasoning packet, tomato sauce and beans.

I received this chili starter as a substitute for GV Chili Ready Diced Tomatoes. It has more salt than I wanted, so I wasn't sure if I'd use it or not. Then I tried it as a salsa dip for corn chips and discovered it's delicious. It would be very good for making chili or soup, but it's also tasty as a tomato salsa.

Came across this, never heard of it before. Didn't use it for chili but a pasta dish. Good flavor, nice change from using crushed tomatoes and adding seasoning

This has quickly become a staple in my household. Rich but not overpowering flavor at an affordable price. I'm sure it makes great chili. I use to make Spanish rice. Delicious!!!

juicy tomatoes for your chili their seasoned and full of tomatoes so it cuts your time and half when you're making chili prices okay you should try them

I ordered this by accident and I don't make chili so it sat in my cupboard. My husband saw it, used it as chip dip and has ever since. Go figure. It does smell like chili so I imagine it works well for its' intended use :)

I bought this for the homemade chili I make in place of the name brand I usually get. I like my chili mild without any "hot" spices. This is too spicy for me. It may be perfect for those who like their chili with a bit of "hotness" to it. If you like your chili mild like I do try "Great Value Chili Ready Diced Tomatoes" instead. Which has plenty of flavor containing onion, garlic powder, chili powder, celery, bell green pepper, etc. without the "hot" pepper. I use two cans of the "Great Value Chili READY Diced Tomatoes with six cans of "Great Value Chili Beans" for some great tasting, low fat, mild vegetarian chili. I've also made it with a pound of cooked ground turkey if you need some meat in it which tastes great as well. It just adds fat and calories. So your choice!
