I mix this with cooked ground pork sausage and a can of Hunt's tomato paste with Italian seasoning for a pasta sauce. Please do not eat beef, it is an unsustainable abomination for our environment and beef fat clogs our arteries. The can is easy to recycle and this will reduce our importing of steel from foreign countries.
I use it for guelash hamburger pasta and tomatoes simple yet use to be affordable nowadays any meat cost makes anyone want to become a hunter, poor animals iam looking at any of them becoming dinner can't even feed ducks without thanking them as roasted yel meat isn't always on the menu anymore so sad.
A GOOD PANTRY STAPLE WHEN MAKING HOME MADE DISHES LIKE SOUPS OR CHILI OR MANY OTHER CREATIONS. ALWAYS GOOD TO HAVE 6 CANS ON YOUR PANTRY SHELF. THESE DAYS LIFE IS SO UNCERTAIN DONT FALL PREY TO THE CRAZY WAY THE WORLD IS HEADED. TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR FOOD SECURITY AND STOCK UP ON ESSENTIALS AND PROTECT YOUR FAMILYS SECURITY,STOCK UP WHILE ITS THERE . PRE-PLANNING IS WISDOM!!!!
I can't believe someone would leave a bad review of this. It's FIRE ROASTED. It will having charring. It will be smoky. It's not just random black stuff in the can. The picture literally shows you what it looks like. “Fire” is not the heat level. It's how the tomatoes are cooked. If you don't want the charred and smoky flavor, don't get a fire roasted product. I buy this all the time. I use it for soups and sauces and it adds a welcomed flavor. I stock up on this regularly as well as regular diced tomatoes so I can use the one that goes with what I'm making. Leaving a bad review on something that you didn't pay attention to isn't fair to those looking for this type of diced tomatoes. I highly recommend this.
Just like the name says, "Great Value" indeed. The taste is excellent and no different to us than the more expensive brand. The texture is succulent, and I appreciate that they are not over salty. Tomatoes are in serious decline at this moment, so the value of the (12 pack) Great Value Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes, 14.5 oz, cannot be overstated. A real necessary item for your home pantry. Let's face it, not much in the pantry staple list, has as much versatility has the humble canned tomato. I highly recommend to anyone, get them while they are still available and at this great price. We use them for so many things. When fresh tomatoes are way too pricey, I drain them well, reserving the juice to add to sauce, and put the tomatoes in sandwiches and salads. Fantastic in tuna and chicken salads, as well as any cold pasta or bean salad. On mini pita pizzas, they are a game changer! And of course in soups and stews they add a whole new level of flavor. Times are tough, shop smart, utilize canned goods while you you can and feed your family food that they'll enjoy and be happy about. A tip I want to share, that I've shared with friends and family: Don't have a pantry? Place canned goods in totes, closets, or sweater totes that easily slide under a bed. You can store anywhere over 150 standard 15 oz cans in a large sweater tote (typically 40 to 60 quarts), depending on the exact dimensions of your containers. You can store around 30 to 35 twelve-ounce cans of food in a 5-gallon bucket, depending on the dimensions of the bucket.
Honestly I just used these for the first time in my tortellini soup. I used 2 cans of these, plus 2 cans of the fire roasted diced tomatoes with green chilies. The difference is to die for. The smokey flavor profile that kinds of the fire roasted diced tomatoes gave my soup was a unexpected result. And just to remind y'all that complain about the black in the tomatoes, that belongs there that's where the roasted flavor comes from. The tomatoes are roasted on either an open flame to give it that char taste or roasted in the oven covered in olive oil to do the same time. I'm sorry if you don't like that or think the product is bad when it's. just expand your flavor palette and give it a chance. I highly recommend this product, it's just as good as the name brands if not better.
I like to keep a can or two of these tomatoes on hand to help with meals when I need to dress up tacos or chili. They always give it that something special. instant taco mixes are so dry and don't go very far. These tomatoes really stretch that packet and add to the tacos. I use them in soups, chili and even in meat dishes.
They were adequate, but definitely didn't taste “fire roasted” like it claimed. The only other thing was the tomatoes weren't “diced,” more like chopped into larger chunks. So the label reading “Fire-Roasted Diced Tomatoes” was incorrect and should be changed. For the price, I'll probably buy again, especially, since this is the 3rd can I've purchased over the last few weeks. I have bought these in the past and they were better quality and had a much better fire-roasted” flavor.
I've ordered these before with no issue but the last three cans I purchased as strong smell and flavor of burnt plastic or chemicals. I had to throw away a whole pot of stew I'd added them to and then threw away the other two cans after opening them and confirming that they also smelled the same. Like an absolutely overwhelming smell of burnt plastic. super frustrating that it ruined the stew.
I've been ordering Walmart's signature products for years. Granted, they're not the best quality, but you can't really beat the price. From now on, though, I'll get my tomatoes from another store, because there was a giant freakin branch inside my can! It's harmless sure, but if they let something that big inside, I'm afraid on what else they could let slip. I'm not willing to take that risk.
