This was the first time I have purchased these shells, actually they were great! I decided to make stuffed shells and I used all great value brands, my stuffed shells were excellent and I will purchase these brands in the future.
I buy this brand of pasta shells because the value and the taste is very good. I love to make stuffeed shells pasta every once in a while, and these shells cook perfect, when I boil them they hold the shape and do not come apart. I do rinse them out in cold water to stop them getting over-cooked. Once they cool down, I stuffed them with either cheese (string cheese works good) and I also stuffed them with ground meat and top them with mozzarella cheese. They hold their shape while baking and they are delicious. No need to spend more money on other brands when this do make the dishes complete with the same taste and results.
Not much to say about pasta shells. GV pasta shells work as well as any name brand. Exceptionally priced making them a Great Value.
Bought these for stuffed shells. They arrived with only a few broken. So happy! Cannot tell you how often I get these at the store and they are in pieces when I open them. Makes a great meal that goes far.
The actual product is very good and easy to use if you followq the cooking directions for delicate pasta, The box they are packaged in only insures you will hhave about 10% to 20% broken due to transportation and handleing. They need to be in another method to insure they are not damage as they come off the shelf. In addition they are usually on the highest shelf which if you can reach them(?) they are damaged by the box whcih is much too big.
First off the term jumbo shells is a joke. If you plan on making stuffed shells. Move along. To add insult to injury, half of them were unusable! The pictures show the size of the shells as well as how much waste I had on just 2 boxes! My go to is Barilla but Tia was my only choice. I’m not happy!!
I was very disappointed in the quality. The pasta apparently gets cracked during processing, shipping, handling etc. because half of my box were torn apart after cooking. I didn’t rough handle them nor boil them at a violent boil which could cause this. I purchased one box—more than my recipe needed—but didn’t yield enough intact shells to properly prepare my stuffed shells. I had to top the entree with too much sauce and cheese to try to disguise the inadequate quality. I will never buy this again.
Box was obviously opened completely then shipping taped closed with a strip over the top of box. THEN SOLD TO ME. Disgusting who is going to use this item? Does Walmart think that costumers want to use totally opened boxes of pasta? I’m thinking another costumer returned it and they through a piece of tape on it and put back in the shelf.
No longer have the right to be called Jumbo shells. They are half the size what they used to be. Can't even find another brand of them so have to get them from a completely different store. Also, why package them in a bag now? Have a bag that are way too small to stuff and way too big for mac and cheese.
i purchased theses for a family dinner and was very disappointed. 1st their not truly jumbo sized shells but the most importantly most of them in the 2 bags i purchased were totally crushed n broken so after stuffing what i could i literally had a half pan left that were not even edible at all. i would have nvr bought them would i been able to see inside the bag they were in. things are expensive theses days wasting money on food thats not even edible not ok. they should be packed in a Box Where they are unable to be crushed. the sise of the shells was disappointing but i could deal with, but all the broken n crushed ones that is the problem.
