Great onion flavor that adds to slow cooker meals, soups, roasts, meatloaf, dips and so much more. It goes great with chips or crackers and can also simply be eaten as a soup or used as a soup's base. It is a really versatile ingredient and enhances just about any meal and all meats and veggies
I keep this on hand as a seasoning base for many things, soups, stews, recipes, mix into when you're making a meatloaf, you can even mix it into hamburger before you form them into patties and eat cheeseburgers. This is definitely more affordable than the name brand and just as good. It is a pantry staple must.
This is a regular item for me. I add it to any hamburger I cook. I also use it in Bachelor Stew*. It is great to add to a crock pot when making just about anything where you would want onions. I use it in chili, tacos and other meats I cook, chicken, pork or beef. *Bachelor Stew is anything I make up to cook on the spot just using ingredients I have on hand at the time.
I like the Great Value onion soup mix / seasoning just as well as the Lipton. It is less expensive, but has the same great taste and robust flavor. I use it to make dips, to season roasts, or even to mix into meatballs. It is definitely a staple item in my pantry.
From the dry stores came this modest packet of onion soup and dip mix, shelf stable and quietly powerful. Though it rests lightly in the hand, it carries deep savory strength within. When summoned to the Crockpot Chamber, it dissolves into broth and meat alike, enriching the feast with bold onion character. Cast into the oven with roasts or vegetables, it forms a seasoned mantle that clings with purpose and aroma. This is not mere seasoning. It is concentrated depth, ready at a moment's notice and patient upon the shelf until called to serve. Kitchen of the Realm Verdict: Master of Savory Alchemy.
A keep this on hand. Dip mix in seconds! I use sour cream, ranch dressing, and plain old mayo sometimes. Any one of the three make a good dip base. I have added an envelope of it to my Rice Bot in a 2 cup of dry rice concoction. I might get a shaker to use it as a spice as well.
I always keep the great value onion soup mix on hand for a lot of the recipes I make. I can't tell the difference from the name brand soup mix. It always gives my recipes that special something. Perfect amount of seasoning. I add it to meatloaf, shepherd's pie, hamburgers etc…
I actually don't use this the way it's intended most of the time. Instead, I keep it on hand as an easy seasoning for all kinds of recipes, and it's become one of my favorite pantry staples. I'll add it to meatloaf, soups, casseroles, and other savory dishes whenever I want to boost the flavor. It brings a richer onion flavor than using onions alone and adds a little extra depth without much effort. The packets store well, are affordable, and make it easy to add a little something extra to everyday meals. It's one of those ingredients I like to keep stocked because I always seem to find another recipe where it comes in handy. If you've only used it for soup or onion dip, try experimenting with it as a seasoning. It might just become one of your favorite secret ingredients too. 😄
I like to have this onhand as it is very versati;le for cooking or making a good dip for chips. I used the more expensive big name brand for manyyears and then discovered the Walmart brand and this is my choice now. It has all the flavor and not as expensive.
Keeping in mind, I used it for chip dip, not for soup or seasoning. I said'No' to recommending it because of the saltines. It would be OK as a back up plan for any of the above, just.: sour cream, water, or broth, etc. For 1 or 2 people no, I can't say it would be a good value. Stick to what you know.
