Nearly all of the 5-ounce cans were nominally solid and pinkish / nominally white. They were noticeably superior overall to competing national brands, particularly including Bumble Bee and StarKist. The price increased more than 10 percent from my first purchase to my second purchase about 1 month later - disappointing.
Sadly this is not even comparable to the name brands of so-called albacore tuna. This tuna is white and firm and good tasting! I can't believe the brand names are nothing but mushy, brownish/grayish garbage. Thanks Great Value for a wonderful product.
This Walmart brand Great Value solid white Albacore tuna is dolphin-safe, wild caught. It has been a ‘mainstay' of my diet for several years, this purchase is no exception. The fish is uniformly solid, white, mild in flavor and delicious. Can after can is consistently superior quality fish that looks and tastes better than Bumblebee or Starkist or Chicken of the sea. I'm completely satisfied with the superior quality of this brand, I've not found any other brand that I like as well as this one. ( also, in my experience, sometimes other brands have put what can only be described as ‘ chunk- style' tuna inside a can labeled as ‘ solid- white', this has never happened to me with this Walmart brand, solid is always solid, not sometimes mislabeled chunk instead)
Remember those AWFUL and HEINOUS tuna sandwiches of childhood...or the other day at the office? Don't that route EVER AGAIN?! You don't need to. You can have TUNA packed in WATER. If you use mayo, mayo substitute, salad dressing, etc you have enough "fat %26 oil" right there. Water is just right. And WalMart got theirs J-U-S-T perfect. This product is So-ooo delicious, again...strain %26 drain, or use with the water, add some mayo, add'l fixings for topper, filler and you're set. Less calories. Less salt. Medically more beneficial for you and/or the family. **Love how Great Value wins in overall flavor, cost. Cheers.
I've been buying much more expensive tuna for years because the cheap brands are so bad, but I'm broke and had heard good thing about Walmart's brand. Well, it's terrific! Not just a the usual heap of broken up mush-flakes you get from the cheap big brands, it's nice and firm, packed tight, flakes well, tastes great. So I don't have to give up tuna, hope the price point holds. Walmart keeps surprising me.
I only eat albacore tuna and I don't know a name, brand albacore tuna that can be this in quality or taste. I have compared it with chicken or the sea and bumblebee and neither of them compare to the simple generic Walmart brand tuna, other than the expensive pole caught tunas that are 3 to 4 times the price that I don't buy anymore.
I basically use it in making sandwiches and find it overall equal to any brand name tuna. The texture in the can leaves you with the ability to use it in chunks to add to a salad but mixes thoroughly with mayo and sweet relish I use in my sandwiches Just typing this makes me want to mix up a couple of cans for sandwiches this week.
Nothing else compares. Every other can of "solid white albacore" from anyone else is bottom of the barrel and full of water and fishy tasting. Great Value Albacore is so good I eat it from the can and the little water that comes with it goes on my cats dry food for a treat she loves!
This used to be the only tuna I bought . I was buying bumblebee until they were out and like all great value products being as good and better then other brands but today I decided to drain it in a bowl for my cat then I saw the tuna was less than it used to be and since I drain it good I was able to put it on a scale and guess what it s two ounces less than stated. Do when we pay more money and are getting 2 ounces less per can is why I will be buying Costco tuna ..they specify there 7 ounce can is only 5 ounces when drained but they difference is it's a 7 ounce can and they tell you it's not a five ounce can and your only getting 3 ounces less than. I mean how much more rich does the wealthiest family need to be and I just found out they aren't supporting dei like they used too I'm looking to spend money on corporations that do support DEI
"Looks to me like Walmart's got a new fish buyer". Quality has gotten worse. It now looks like a bunch of scraps off the floor. "This used to be the best on the market". Not anymore, Walmart is getting greedy. Two dollars for a can of tuna fish that only weighs .5 ounces? It is.No longer white either.
