Customer Insights: Rated 4.1/5 from 725 reviews.
This basil pesto has a nice, herby flavor with a good balance of garlic and cheese. It’s affordable and convenient for quick meals. The jar is small but goes a long way—perfect for pasta, pizza, or mixing with roasted veggies. Not quite gourmet, but very tasty for the price.
I threw this in a slow cooker with a couple chicken breasts and a packet of ranch seasoning, low for 4 hours, and served over rice. It was so good! It smelled a little weird while cooking but the flavors ended up perfect.
I was delighted by the quality and flavor of this Great Value basil pesto. I’m thinking those who gave it poor reviews either don’t like pesto or got jars with broken seals. Anyway, this pesto is almost as good as Cento, also imported from Italy, but GV’s is about 1/4 the price! That makes it a huge bargain! I prepared it with BG corn and burrata cheese ravioli, but I plan to have it with bow tie pasta and linguine. I love pesto and I’m pleased to have found an inexpensive but high quality product, (I do stir it before using as the oil tends to concentrate at the top.)
I use this basil pesto in my Italian cooking all the time. Believe it or not, upon opening, it tastes great as a salad dressing over baby spinach with homegrown tomato sliced or diced on top.
It’ll do if you need pesto in a pinch, but the flavor is not well-balanced, in my opinion. I usually use the Classico brand pesto, and will stick with that, but I’m glad this affordable alternative exists.
It’s fine. Just not as good as Burtoli. Taste a bit too much like vinegar for my tastes. I think I just prefer the fresh ones that are sold in a refrigerated section
I love Great Value products, but will purchase others when a Great Value item falls short of expectations. I purchased this at a great price to compare with another pesto. I'm not good at explaining taste, but this was just awful, bitter, no tangy-ness that I liked in my comparison product.
This is so gross. It has the nastiest after taste. I would never purchase again. I would starve before eating this again.
This is easily the worst tasting thing I’ve ever had from Walmart, let alone the worst tasting pesto ever. My niece ate the pieces with the least amount of pesto. My sister scraped the pesto off her pasta, and ate the pasta. I tried that, but could not get past the sourness and bizarre aftertaste. My sister suggested rinsing the pesto off in the sink. I just threw it all away. Unfortunately, I trusted Walmart enough that I bought 6 jars. Anyone want 5 jars of The Worst Pesto Of All Time?
This pesto was so disgusting that I could not even eat it. It tastes like they have added clove or nutmeg to it. It tastes nothing like any other basil pesto I've ever eaten.
