6.2" Double-DIN In Dash Touch Screen Receiver with Bluetooth

I am very pleased with the product, I was'nt expecting it to be this good

I replaced old Seattle 660 with new Seattle 660. This product worked so well that I choose not to up grade but to continue with the same. Plus paid only half the price than orig.

I purchased the Blaupunkt Seattle 660 through Walmart online with high hopes. Item was received on the scheduled date in good condition. I used a Metra 95-5817 Double DIN Installation Dash Kit to install this in my Mazda 07 B2300 pickup. My first wiring attempt was using a universal wiring adapter, which did not work. I returned that one and bought a more specific wiring adapter from a local car stereo shop, which worked fine. The Blaupunkt Seattle 660 radio was fair overall. Positives: It has lots of inputs and outputs on the back, as well as lots of options in the wiring harness. It should support steering wheel controls and a power antenna. It has inputs for video and a front and rear camera. It plays from radio, CDs, MP3s, DVDs, SD card, AUX input and Bluetooth. The unit takes maybe 20+ seconds to start. I'm not used to having to "boot" your radio. When I turn the ignition off, then to accessory, the unit reboots, so I miss what I was turning to accessory to hear. The bluetooth worked pretty well, except my wife said she couldn't hear me on the phone . I could hear her just fine. The radio and other music sounded fair. I was listening through slightly upgraded speakers, but I thought the factory radio sounded better. Fringe area radio reception was not as good as with my factory radio. The volume control knob is rather small. You can feel steps as you turn it rather than a smooth continuous motion. The backlight on the physical buttons and knob controls area slowly changes color, constantly. Pretty, but a distraction while driving. I couldn't see a way to turn the color changing off. The radio controls are on the touchscreen. I could only change pre-set stations by first going to the favorites screen, then selecting the preset I wanted. The arrows on the main screen did not move from preset to preset. The display shows the time and date only when powered on. I shouldn't let it bother me, but it displayed the month as "Augest". After a couple of weeks, I installed a Pyle backup camera. I wired the power to the backup lights, and connected the video signal to the rear video input. I got nothing. The camera worked fine through the Front camera input, although I had to go to the menu and select front camera each time I wanted to use it. There is no selection for rear camera, so I think it is supposed to display automatically whenever that input is powered on(?!) The rear camera operation is not detailed in the owners manual. I stopped back at the local car stereo shop and asked about the rear camera operation. The salesperson couldn't answer my question, but said he really liked the Blaupunkt products. The owners manual said that warranty support is through the retailer first, then through the manufacturer. This is in contrast to most products I see that ask you to contact them first to resolve problems before returning the product. I did not ask the local Walmart about the rear camera operation; instead I decided to check online and call the toll free help phone number listed in the manual. The manual guides you to ematics.com. This domain name is up for sale. I was able to find my product on the blaupunkt.com site, but couldn't find an answer on rear camera operation. The manual shows the customer service call hours are 9am - 5PM PST . I called the customer service number at 12 EDT (9am PDT), and was very surprised to speak with an agent immediately. The agent spoke excellent English, and was polite. However, he said he was unable to verify that my product was a current product covered under warranty. He requested that I take a photo of the box and email it to them and wait 48 hours for a response. I was unhappy with this result. I thought I was under a 30 day return deadline, which was soon approaching. Further, if the customer service can't verify this is a supported product, how were they going to give any support? I told the agent I would just return the product and would be giving it a poor review. I heard him start to say something as I was hanging up, but I don't know if things would have gotten better. I just checked and I actually have 3 months to return this unit. I have ordered a different brand as a replacement and still have high hopes.

My first experience with Blaupunkt came many years ago. I absolutely loved that unit. Now fast forward many years and this version does not live up to the quality of old and frankly I was disappointed in the overall performance. The unit does the job but the user interface needs a lot of work, such as you can't adjust the volume while using the backup camera. The location of the remote sensor and microphone limits there functionality, hands free calling is difficult as people can hear you speak. The only reason I didn't return it is because I will need a radio for my pontoon boat in the future and this is one I wouldn't be heart broken if it got damaged. After reading some of the company history in recent years, the Blaupunkt of old doesn't exist any longer.
