Bought a cheaper brand first and they never worked properly. Boat Buckle brand is far better and is flawless in function.

So much to easier to use than stock tie downs. Mounted them backwards directly to trailer frame,but they work fine.

mounted up easily. Bought a different brand last year about half the cost. The self retracting quit working a month ago. So this time I spent the extra money for the Boat Buckles so far so good.

They work great, and the installation was simple.

This is my second set of Boat Buckle . I had to replace the first set after more than 5 years in use in salt water. I recommend the use of the stainless model. Installation and use are easy and makes a very secure tie down.

Awesome retractable straps but the but the bolts and nuts are terrible. Took a 12" wrench and a vise and could not tighten bolts. they were not cross threaded either. they are a tapered nut that I suppose are their answer for a lock nut. but when threading them on i barely got one to tighten all the way and the other broke in half. I recommend supplying regular nuts and some Loctite or lock washers. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

nothing special about the purchase

I have used the new hold-downs 3 times now and they are very easy to use and work great. (I can't speak on durability as again, I have only used them three times - maybe ask me again in a year.) It is nice to have them attached to the trailer so you don't have to have them in the boat or worry about where you put them. The bolts and nuts provided are horrible and I read another review that said ""don't bother using the bolts and nuts provided - go buy your own"". Well, I didn't heed that advice and tried to install - I mean how difficult can that be to install a simple nut and bolt? Well, after wrestling with them for over a half-hour laying on my back under the trailer with a few skinned/bleeding knuckles, I had to get a hack saw to cut the bolt and then head to the hardware store to get new nuts and bolts. I wish I would have listened to the advice of the previous reviewer - and highly recommend you do the same! This is why I only gave it 4 stars.
