Excellent Tomatoes for Tacos

Kenneth July 17, 2026

These Great Value Diced Tomatoes have truly become an absolute cornerstone of my kitchen, proving themselves to be incredibly versatile for a wide range of cooking needs, from hearty winter chili and spicy taco meat to complex, slow-simmered pasta sauces and savory vegetable stews. The quality is consistently excellent across every single can I open, and the texture is perfectly balanced—they are never mushy or overly watery, but rather maintain a soft enough consistency to blend seamlessly into my favorite recipes while still providing a nice, hearty bite that adds substance to every dish. I particularly appreciate that the acidity level is exceptionally well-managed, which saves me from the common kitchen chore of having to constantly add extra sugar or baking soda just to balance out the flavor profile. These tomatoes also have a fantastic, long-lasting shelf life, so I make it a top priority to keep a healthy, rotating stock in my pantry at all times for those hectic, busy weeknights when I need to throw together a quick, nourishing, and flavorful meal on the fly. They offer the perfect trifecta of convenience, culinary consistency, and depth of flavor, making them a highly recommended and essential addition to any home cook's collection of reliable pantry staples.

Great all purpose diced tomatoes for less $$

Anonymous July 19, 2026

These are really good diced tomatoes and work great for stews, soups, and sauces. I keep both the 28 oz and the 15 oz cans on hand so I can have just the right amount for the quantity I'm making. I like the diced size because you still have some of the solids but not huge chunks of them if that's not what you want...the juice is good, not watery or too thick. The price is great too!

10 out of 10 on the juice-o-meter!

Rebeccah April 3, 2026

Exactly what I expect from a canned tomato: juicy, sweet, full-bodied, uniformly diced tomatoes, and elevates any dish that requires tomatoes. I can't tell any discernible difference between Great Value and name-brand tomatoes. An absolute pantry staple that is enjoyed often.

Walmart Canned Goods, Good every time!

Cathy May 30, 2026

I buy tomatoes in the canned goods aisle as often as I'm there. The brand is an excellent product %26 necessary in my kitchen frequently. A great value %26 another fine Walmart purchase!

Buy it, you'll like it!

David July 5, 2026

Meant to buy whole canned tomatoes but bought this by mistake. One of the best mistakes I ever made!! Juicy, flavorful, I can't say enough good things about it! I even add a can to my lasagna to give the layers some "hydration".

Great with Pasta

Kelly June 30, 2026

These diced tomatoes in tomato juice go well with freshly cooked pasta. I just add some ground beef and it makes a simple dish that is super easy and cheap.

Dented can and dirty-

tooturhorn March 24, 2026

The can of Diced Tomatoes, must have been dropped on the ground, the can was severely dented and soiled. Usually, the diced tomatoes are good, however, you can get Botulism from damaged canned goods. Botulism is tasteless and odorless, and there is no cure, never eat food in damaged cans.

perfect size %26 taste for my chili recipe

Casey June 18, 2026

works great in my chili -- these diced tomatoes have a very good taste that blends perfectly with my home-made chili. This larger can size is economical and also the best size for my chili recipe.

Okay but not the best.

Roger May 8, 2026

Somewhat thin texture. Dull tomato taste. I prefer the similar size Aldi brand but until recently, has been out of stock. This is my backup rather than favorite canned tomatoes.

Low quality

anonymous June 22, 2026

I recently used two cans of this in a recipe, and I had to pull out so many pieces that it affected the volume greatly. It's full of the hard part of the core where the stem was attached. No actual stems, but hard, inedible pieces. I've never seen this many in a can of tomatoes. I suppose buying the name brand is actually more cost effective in this one scenario, because there was so much waste that I didn't actually save any money.
