I have no skill in picking out pears in the produce isle,so I decided to try these canned pears! They are: Delicious, fresh, and have a slight crunch! I need a good source of fiber and pears are on top of the list...no added sugar makes these " calorie friendly " too! The price is " budget friendly " and thats a major factor with todays grocery prices! If you like pears, give these a try! I think you will be pleasantly surprised!
Put the can in the fridge and get it cold so you can have a really good snack, don't forget to drink the juice or use all of it for a smoothie. Use for making pancakes or muffins. Bake into a crisp or make ice cream. Now you can add a dozen or so uses for pears. Don't forget salads.
A Pear is naturally sweet. So I thought I'd try the "No sugar" style and test it to see if the flavor remains along with the sweetness. I DOES! It's really delicious. And I love that it's in slices too, instead of little square bits. WMT brand does the job!
I grew up in the country life where a lot of our food was "put up". Canning was an ongoing part of out living. These canned Pears allow me to relive those great days. If you like pears I think you will love these. If you don't care for pears you should give these a try! There are great.
I prefer to use canned pears and/or peaches in my smoothies instead of fresh ones for the convenience. They are just as tasty as the fresh ones. I do use fresh bananas, strawberries, and pineapples, along with a can of coconut milk. These pears are great. I would buy them again.
I hesitate to say this because I don't want them to be out of stock every time I try to order but these are my new favorite thing! Don't make the same mistake I did and sleep on these pears. They taste amazing! Dump two cans in a bowl with the juice and refrigerate. You don't need to add anything. They taste great with your morning coffee and the pectin helps you swallow medication. Pears are the new pears. You heard it here.
4.5 stars, only thing I have to knock is a minor inconsistency in the firmness and in how effective the mechanical separation is. Went through two cans and compared to the name brand its like 95% as good. In each can I noticed that the mechanical removal of the core left behind a few traces of the sclereids (the gritty harder part of the inner pear just outside of it's core). Not a big deal, just required getting out the knife and trimming it, but it was an added step and I had a cutting board to wash. This part can be eaten, I'm just picky so I want it gone. And the other thing I noticed was the firmness of themselves had some minor inconsistencies; some were super soft nearing mush, others were quite firm. But I'll still buy them because when I think of how many cans I'll go through in a year it adds up to almost $100 in savings over the name brand and the trade off is small bit of extra prep -- thats a good deal to me.
This is a pantry stapler at our house to be served with a scoop of loaf head cottage cheese. You can't beat the price and the taste and texture is always consistent. It tastes sweet without being over sugary. I gave it a four out of five because sometimes one of the slices will have some people left on it, and the slices are not always even in size. I would definitely still recommend this product because of the great price.
With things so expensive these days I thought buying the Great Value canned fruit was an opportunity to save over the name brands. Not good. These pears were not packed ripe and they were not cored well— there were hard parts on nearly every slice that were parts of the core. It's not a savings if the family won't eat them. Waste of money. Buy the big brand for a few cents more.
I never did get to taste them because cans were all busted up when I got them so I'm very sorry that I can't really rate this properly, but you can't ever get through to anybody either so it makes it hard when you do have a complaint every once in a while
