Another Great Value brand I purchase often. These are reasonably priced and taste great. I drain them and add a dollop of mayo and shredded cheese. It is served as a dessert because I'm a diabetic and like something kinda sweet. I do mostly purchase the water not heavy juice due to the carbs. Every can I've purchased has always been fresh and crisp.
I was hesitant to try store brand tinned fruit, so glad that I did. The taste and quality were very good, and it's become a pantry staple and my evening snack. Fruit in pear juice tastes so much better than in a syrup of added sugars and corn syrup.. Trying to stay away from so many plastic containers, so appreciate that too.
Produce has been more miss than hit the last few years and often rots quickly. These are a great way to incorporate fruits more into our diet without waste as they are shelf stable and ready when we are. And without added syrups they are a good snack as well as recipe ready.
These are very good pear halves in 100% juice. The pears have a firm texture without being hard. I put them on cottage cheese for a healthy dessert. They are also good in smoothies or on vanilla ice cream. The ingredients list only pears and pear juice (water and pear juice concentrate), so there is no added sugar or high fructose corn syrup.
These pears didn't taste like they were ripe when they were processed. Unripened pears to my taste don't have any flavor. The texture was much firmer than what I expected from canned pears. Was looking for a softer texture. I'm not going to purchase these pears again.
First of all, I was given dented cans, which should not be given to customers. There was only 4 halves in the can, and the pears were so hard, that I couldn't bite them. I managed to eat 2 halves, but the other 2 were so hard, that a fork couldn't be used to pick them up. I will no longer purchase great value pears. I also purchased some peaches. Whenever I decide to open them, I hope that they or edible. If I can't eat the peaches, it will be my last time buying great value canned goods. The products are not a great value, if they have to be thrown away because the coustomers can't eat the canned fruits.
This can of pears were still hard (not ripe) and the core and stems were still on them. I bought them to mash and add to a jello salad I make and I couldn't even mash them. After I cored them, removed the blemishes, and cut them in small pieces I used a chopper to get them to a size I could use. I wouldn't recommend these pears to anyone.
These pears are hard as rocks. You have to have a fork and a knife to cut them then you can't chew on and then they taste like chalk. They are not ripe. They are just not good I do not recommend them at all I would not buy them and I am never buying them again. So disappointed
i think my husband does not like to eat pears from a can because pears are already naturally blan in taste enuff as it is already %26 even more blan packed in a can. We'll hv 2 grind them with other juices to at least drink it; just to use it up than.
The quality of this product depends on where you buy it. In North Carolina, the cans do not have an easy to open pop top. The pears are soft. They taste ripe and sweet and are generally of good quality however in New York or specifically the cans that have the easy open pop top, the pears taste unsweet, they are not ripe with a funny taste, and can be so hard especially in the center it takes a knife to cut through them. They tend to have more blemishes and a woody or stringy texture in the middle. I am done buying these in the easy pop top cans that you see in New York and in the north. It is a waste of money. I would not recommend this to anyone who lives in an area where the bad quality canned product is sold. It would be nice if there was consistency in this product, but there is not and this has been an issue that has gone on for at least a year. I will not be buying this product in New York for the foreseeable future.
