Followed instructions (quick method), found no stones/pebbles when rinsing. .. Other brands that I have tried had a lot of tiny stones. .. I like to add salt and smoked meat while cooking! .. They turn out So good over rice! Maybe little corn bread on the side 😁! .. Whole meal for me! .. The dried beans save me a lot vs the cost of canned and I can control salt content. Once cooked, you get a lot of beans out of this bag. After cooking I divide mine and freeze some. .. Later I will make my own refried beans for burritos. .. Tip! Frozen cooked beans = I found that beans are not gritty/weird textured, if you let them completely thaw before heating.
It is wonderful that Great Value offers such a great variety of dried bean and pea products. They are very nutritious. The instructions on the package are easily understood and make preparation easy. I like to make a pound bag and use it throughout the week in salads, to make dips, burgers, as a main course. They are really versatile. They are shelf stable and they can even be planted in the garden.
Walmart is the ONLY store where I can find the Small Red Beans, which is the type that my recipe for Red Beans and Rice calls for. The regular large type of Red Beans don't give you the smooth and creamy consistency for the recipe. Thank you Walmart for carrying such a large and mixed inventory for the consumers choices!
Tasty little beans that I use for making red beans and rice. Never any bad beans. Consistently good quality for a cheap price. Great for feeding a family without breaking the bank. Just add some smoked sausage and spices, cook some rice and cornbread and you have a full meal.
you can't go wrong stocking up on beans and red beans are super good with gravy and rice. I'm just restocking because what is left of my dry beans have become really too old to use except in case of emergency. I may just use them to make heating pads for everyone for Christmas. If this idea sparks your imagination, don't forget to make a pillowcase type cover for the microwave/freezer heating/cooling pads. Start fresh. Rotate your stock if it's time. You know when the beans take longer to cook and the skin is like popcorn kernels no matter how long you cook them. That's when you can use them for pie weights or heating pads, eh? Great Value Dry Beans have never let me down. I use and make them a lot in my slow cooker.
The Red Beans were a surprise. I was from Cajun Country and you know we got to have our Red Beans and Rice. I didn't expect to find them locally. Thanks, now get in some Conecuh Sausage and I can make them right. Charlotte
Solid product. Good bag of beans at a good price if you know how to cook them these make an excellent red beans soup. Just ate that a few minutes ago and it was delicious. But, the beans are the same or similar as any other bag of red beans. The price difference of this brand over others is nice but not life changing. Would recommend GV brand on this and really pretty much any other similar item as taste, texture, quality will all be similar.
I don't like this brand. While they are cleaner from dirt and rocks, they have no favor. They clean up easy, cook quickly with an hour boiled soak and then a fresh hot water cooking. Good texture, but no flavor.
I won't ever buy these again. Most of the beans were already split while dry before rinsing. I'm soaking them now and I'm seeing more beans just fall apart.
Every time I place an order something is missing-----red beans I asked driver he said everything was delivered....
