My son loves this for the meals he makes. It's good ground beef, and I've eaten it a few times. It easily seasons and adds protein to many dishes. The meat will be tender if you cook it right and at the right temperature. We think this is a good ground beef. It stores easily in the freezer and does not seem to burn in the deep freeze when placed inside a deep freeze bag.
This is the first time I have 85% lean meat which I have to say it had a lot less grease than my other meats. I have used in the past. This is definitely a winner and will be purchasing again. I do not taste too greasy or anything.
I bought two of these to try. While cooking a hamburger, there was a lot of fat that cooked out. While making and baking a meat loaf, the taste of the hamburger after baking was very good. I definitely recommend this.
surprised by this frozen ground beef. same as the fresh ground beef . have purchased other brands of frozen ground beef and was disappointed wth them. This one is convenient just pop in freezer until needed
I primarily buy these in bulk to store in the freezer, occasionally a tube will leak so i'd advise putting it on a plate to defrost. Hard to find 85% lean cheaper than $7 anywhere else so pretty good deal.
I always buy this kind of hb meat unless I grind my own, which I have been doing because my boyfriend was the beef eater and I was the chicken eater, but he died, so now I have to use up the meat he had in the deep freezer. I can the leftovers after making a giant batch of hamburger soup and after waiting a month to taste test, I share with neighbors.
We usually buy our meat at Sams club. They have five pound packages of 85%/15% ground beef. It works out to be about $5.90 a pound. It's always really good . However, really cold temperatures and snowy weather, kept us close to home. I ordered items from my local Walmart to be delivered. Since everybody in our small town, had stocked up for the same reason, the shelves were pretty bare, and so I tried this ground beef. I was pleasantly surprised and have ordered it several more times. Beware, one upc is for fresh and the other upc is frozen. Same meat, but the fresh is .70 cents more.
The product is good in general. The problem is the frequency of damaged packages. From a pin hole to a slit, many of the rolls are either leaking blood or leak in the fridge defrosting. Itbisnt unusual for this type of product to leak at the ends while defrosting, but these are injured in some way compromising the wrapper.
I ordered this fresh ground beef to use for my evening meal and it was scheduled to arrive when I was going to start cooking. When it arrived it was frozen solid. I had to find another way to feed me family and it cost me $47. The meat itself is only average, not a lot of flavor and seems to have a lot of fat or water cook out of it making it somewhat tought. But the price is competitive.
It comes frozen which is weird. When I thawed it the package had multiple holes in it and it leaked everywhere. I don't feel comfortable cooking it now.
