First had one of these some 40 years ago. The new one is almost exactly like it. Only difference I can think of is that the one I had decades ago had a metal pump arm. The new one has a polymer arm and yet still feels as stout as a metal one. I bought it primarily to shoot pellets for target practice and competition. With respect to pellets, using an indoor range limited to 4 pumps, it really hits pellet trap very hard and tight groupings. Not uncommon to get 4 of 5 shots so close together it looks like one large hole. I am very happy with the accuracy of using both iron sights and scope. Quality seems to be very good still. If there's one con, and this is a personal preference of mine, I just wished it weighed a little more. When firing from the standing firing position on 5-meter and 10-meter ranges, the rifle is very light feeling and that causes instability in trying to keep the aim steady. By contrast, I also have a Daisy model 1999 Western Sky bb gun that when filled with a few hundred bb's will make that bb gun weigh a bit more than the 880, which then makes it easier to shoot from competition standing posture. If the 880 had another pound or two of weight, preferably towards the middle or front, this would be one of the best air rifles around. As it is, it's still 5/5 stars. From supported positions like prone, sitting, kneeling, or even using a bench rest, the 880 is extraordinarily accurate. If you're a competitive shooter, you'll like this amazing air rifle. And I like that it's a full-size feeling rifle in that it's exactly the same length and reach as my Rossi .22 rifle, albeit about 2 pounds lighter. I haven't used the scope as much as iron sights since scopes are banned in most competitions. However, using it around the house the scope seems to be fairly good quality. It has elevation and windage adjustments on scope just like a full-size rifle scope has. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to see the 4x15 Daisy scope also had a focuser so that I can adjust it to my eye for a clear sight picture. Just remember to back off the lock ring a little, adjust to your vision, then tighten down the lock ring so it doesn't move. I was very impressed with that extra feature that I wasn't expecting. I'm very satisfied with this product and recommend to anyone who enjoys the sport of target shooting.
Of all of the BB and pellet guns I've owned since I was a kid, this was and is my favorite because it's the best overall in my opinion. Accurate, powerful and inexpensive. I'm sixty now and I live in the country and I have to walk in the evening and at night because I'm heat sensitive; this is still great for hunting, but also my piece of mind because I know it is a good deterrent should I have any unexpected animal encounters. I also have severe arthritis in my wrist, hands and shoulders, so the easy pump makes this a great gun for old-timers too. My eyes are no longer good either but with this gun as long as you can point and line up the sight pretty close you're going to hit what you're shooting at... with no kick. It's Awesome! Still makes me feel like a kid again and brings back memories every time I touch it.
I have too many squirrels coming into my yard. I chase them out because I have solar panels installed. The panels are warm in the winter so the squirrels will get up on the roof and under the panels. They can end up nesting and chewing wires which completely voids the warranty. I would chase them out the yard but they come right back, in groups of three or four. I bought this just to wing them a little and cause a little pain to make them feel not welcome. I had one squirrel that was getting into the bird feeder and actually ruined the bird feeder by chewing the sides (wood). I would scare her off and all she would do is run under the shed and as soon as I stepped back inside the door, she was back up on the bird feeder. Long story short, I picked this up to scare her and did not want to hurt the squirrel or injure her. I just wanted to give her a little sting to make her think twice before raiding my bird feeder and chewing the wood. I only pumped the bb gun 6 or 7 pumps and I used daisy BBs--no pellets. I took aim for her rear but she jumped and the bb hit her in the head and she dropped. I never expected that much power. I had one of these as a child back in the 1960s and the only thing it would kill was a cockroach. Several other squirrels were in the yard and all took off when they saw her drop. The other squirrels stayed away after that. I have one that has come back, but all I have to do, is stand by the sliding glass door and pick up the bb rifle and he takes off. I don't even have to go outside. I guess they figured out what the bb rifle is for.
This is the BB gun I used as a kid, and it was the best back then, and it still is the best all around BB gun today. It brings back happy memories and puts a smile on my face knowing that they still build it the same style as they did back then 45 years ago. It has a good power level, eye relief and pump action. I highly recommend this retro BB gun.
I bought this 880 to replace my 1990s 880. I use mostly bbs in them for minor pest control. This one is supposed to come with a scope, and mine did not. The nox was banged up and taped up from rough handling (it was delivered via FedEx). More of the parts are made of plastic than my old one, but that's how stuff is made these years. Having the scope would be nice since it's supposed to be included.
Nice Quality and Design. I was disappointed it did not come with BBs included. I was certain that when I ordered it (for pickup) for a Christmas present that it mentioned it came with some BBs. It was annoying that we couldn't start using it today.
Heavy on the plastic. Ammo locations are not very sturdy. All I can say is Daisy doesn't make them like they used to! I have NOT YET used the scope (as I grew up without a scope). Already sustained jams and had to undo that. All this is basically crap as I am trying to educate my granddaughter on fire arms, and to shoot.
The gun I received and the gun advertised are not the same gun and then I find out it is not returnable!! The gun I ordered in the online picture is black and a 880S, the gun I got is brown and a 880. This equals false advertising in my opinion Item was shipped in the box it comes in and arrived tattered and torn up! This is a Christmas gift from a grandparent on a fixed income and a big Walmart fail! I’ll use Amazon from now on.
It’s poorly made. Walmart should have picked a vendor that stood by their product you can’t even return it. I’ve had it less than 24hrs been used to see of that works and it does not. Tried to return and the csr said it’s out of their control I would not be getting my money back.
I picked up for curbside and literally right away I noticed the box was beat up, opened it and low and behold the actual metal barrel was bent! I asked the curbside employees what can they do and they say to go inside, once inside the manager says she can't do anything about it! Like what?! I get it's against policy to return an air rifle but it was purchased already damaged, there has to be something that can be done!? Super frustrating experience. I have not written one review ever in my life until now.
