I purchased this little unit when my central air died, in the middle of an 8 day series of 100+ degree days. 3 weeks later, still no new ac, and facing another series of 100+ degree days, i purchased this unit for my bedroom. It worked great, keeping my bedroom at a steady 74 degrees despite the outside temp. It was a lifesaver until my central ac was fixed.
So far this window AC unit has been working great. In the two weeks of use, each day has been 110+ in the Phoenix area. I turn the temp control up to 79 and put it on Economy and in the evening I lower the temp a bit and remove the economy setting. The dogs are very comfortable and actually have it better than I do!
To be honest, I've never heard of Midea, but this unit was well-priced and had the features I wanted to replace a GE (that failed after just over a year), so I went for it. Works fine so far, nicely packaged and easy to install, seems well-designed, but I'll have to see how it survives next summer's 100 degree stretches, which can be really hard on small a/c's around here.
Square footage in my basement over 800'. This unit is the little train that could. Once I get the room cooled I select Econo Mode and it works like a dream. Remote lets me stay fat and happy on the couch!
Easy install and setup. Connected to my ipad and Alexa things blended effortlessly. Turned it on and it actually cooled the room beyond my belief. As it stands right down just a couple of weeks in, it is outstanding!
I purchased this to replace a 6,000 BTW window unit. Even though the 8,000 BTW until put out a lot of air, the room didn't get a cold as the old unit because the lowest temperature it can be set to is 62° (my old unit went down to 60°). So even though this was more powerful and cooled the room more quickly, it didn't get as cold as I wanted. Unfortunately, this is going to be returned.
Was excited to change the ac I had in my room for this larger one. But, it came with a the front left corner dented. And it doesn't get my small bedroom very cool even turning it down to 68. It blows out cool air not cold.
This thing can barely cool off a medium bedroom. It always feels wet and so doesn't feel very cool. There is a dry mode, but when you turn it on, the fan will ony run on low and then the cooling stops working so well. I unfortunately bought 2 of these, both the same, I wouldn't buy it again now that I have seen its performance.
It's making odd noises already and I've only had it a few weeks!!! This is ridiculous. I know it's been a hot winter, but it's certainly not as hot as summer and this thing can't handle it. Our room is small, but I got a larger model to overcompensate for the fact that the door opens and closes about 15 times a day. All the same, it's never left open and the unit should not be making these sounds! (I've had window units in my bedroom for years. Their normal running noises don't bother me a bit. This one isn't as quiet as some I've had, but when it worked it wasn't horrendously loud.)
This 8,000 BTU version does not come with auto off or any of the other features of the 10,000 BTU model (that is no longer available). It's a very noisy air conditioner. I can not recommend it.
