The ground beef is very lean and portioned accurately. I have diabetes and protein is important. Since I only use beef once a week, I appreciate that it's low enough in fat that I don't need to drain the beef after browning. And I also believe it's a wonderful value!
Just the right fat content for ground beef mixes. I generally use an 85-15 for meat loaf or meatballs but for other items such as rice mixes or vegetable mixes the 90-10 works best. Walmart brand has the best pricing, and the quality is excellent. The packaging has been condensed which is a great idea, less to dispose of, no foam tray.
Being fat weight conscious, I always buy leanest ground beef for home cooking. Frankly, I dislike fatty meats anyway. There are condiments I prefer to apply to achieve my desired grilled or baked casserole meat results which provide needed juicy moisture. If a beefier taste is desired, just add a bit of beef broth and/or finely chopped fresh onions and mushrooms.
Well, I wanted to make chili, but I opted for 90% lean because I can no longer manage drawing the fat after I brown the ground beef. Unfortunately, there was still a lot of liquid let in the pan after I finished browning, but I had to leave it in, hoping it would make up in flavor for the lack of fat. I was wrong. There was no flavor in my chili even tho I had added chile powder mix. If you want to make a tasty chili, don't use this product.
I love ground sirloin but this came in weird small package had a funny smell and it really don't taste like ground sirloin didn't care for Oder and taste won't buy again like that in that package type
Never again. Apparently Walmart doesn't carry the old version of ground sirloin anymore. It came on a tray and you could see the strands of ground meat. This block was a firm blob. It also gave off a lot of liquid when frying unlike the previous style from a tray. Going to the farmer's market from now on for my beef.
Have ordered same meat many times. This package is swimmimg in blood. Honestly cannot open it or try to cook it. I ask WHY would an employee pick this pkg. to send to a customer? To get rid of it? have to ask 4 a refund %26 cannot cook the recipe I wanted to make. I am a Walmart customer n rely on delivery as I recently had a serious surgery. Cant just order one item for replcement. So will have to wait a week.
I have always loved this ground beef. Suddenly it is awful! Upon frying it was swimming in fat. I have never seen this before in the lean beef which had very little fat if any. I even wondered it was mislabeled. Now I am Leary and distrustful of this purchase in the future.
This supposedly 90% lean sirloin beef is so full of white stuff. It should be 90% red meat, but it is maybe 60% red beef. Yes, they can't fill it with fat by law and sell it as 90% lean sirloin, so instead (to save money) they load it up with ground up white parts that we would normally throw out on a steak or roast: gristle, silver skin, etc. I couldn't eat the burger I made from it tonight. I had to keep spitting it out. The ground sirloin Walmart was selling had some of that in it, but this new company they are now selling is much worse. I'm buying a meat grinder to grind my own from roasts from now on.
every bite had a large piece of grizzle in it the worst piece of meat I've ever had, I don't understand how they could sell something like this. I'd like to meet the inspector on this one.
