Installed this in a new front door and it is almost perfect. I integrated this with Home Assistant via the MQTT integration. I was able to program the PIN codes through MQTT, as those settings are not exposed through Home Assistant. First thing I disabled was the beeps, because that was super annoying (set to silent mode). The only thing I wished it had was a way to disable the blinking LED on the interior, then it would be perfect. The reason I went with the Zigbee lock was for full local (non-cloud) control. This is critical to me for something as important as a door lock to not have any unnecessary exposure to hackers.
It was easy to install with basic knowledge of installing electronic locks. I love the auto-lock feature and the added security features for preventing people from using fingerprints to discover your pin. Overall I'm extremely excited about this new lock and my husband won't have to hear me yelling about him leaving doors unlocked again! I read the bad reviews before purchasing the lockset, I'm not sure why some complained about the price, I find it to be fair for the features it has. I also saw the complaints about it not working with Alexa, mine works perfectly fine with Alexa at my home. Perhaps some people should consider paying a locksmith to install since they become easily frustrated. The instructions were very easy to follow. It like walking in a straight line. Not a single thing was confusing about them. I LOVE the matte black finish I purchased as it goes with our homes modern architecture. I can't wait to see how guests respond to it when they see it. For some odd reason the builder installed a pewter/brass colored lock. This one looks 1000% better. Thanks for another great lock Kwikset.
This lock came with a new home I purchased over a year ago. Never have I had a problem with it and only recently replaced the batteries on it. My neighbors all have the same lock and no has had any issues.
I got this a few weeks ago and I'm very happy with it. It looks really nice and is made very well. It was a great price too. It's well made and easy to install. Definitely recommend!
Easy to install and very straightforward to use day-to-day. The keypad is responsive, and setup takes minimal effort, even for someone without much DIY experience. However, battery life is a major downside. The lock tends to drain batteries quickly—sometimes within a month—which creates a real reliability issue. There's nothing worse than the lock failing when you actually need it. Bottom line: Convenient and user-friendly, but the frequent battery drain makes it hard to use long term cannot rely on it.
Screen stopped working an about 1 week If I very lightly touch the keypad I can sometimes get it to work. If you tap with normal pressure it seems to start the keycode entry all over again. Where you have to press 2 random keys again. Did a factory reset and still doing the same. Made it hard to add another user code. Keypad is unusable.
On Website it claims to work with Alexia. Called customer service - NOT. Customer service just says it only works with z wave
For such an expensive lock I cant believe how poorly it functions. The touch screen is incredibly non-responsive unless you wait 30 seconds for it.
Horrible waste of money. 916 always fails. Should be recalled=batteries die vey fast-sticks
