My children and I enjoy the Walmart beef because it taste good without all the fat and added ingredients. The beef versus the fat content in it is great. Not a lot of extra ingredients, fat, so I enjoy that and I like to know that my children are getting a good quality meat.
I never use the high-fat ground beef (like 80%,) even when some recipes call for it. I sometimes use 92%, but I almost always buy the 96%. It tastes fine to me for burgers and in chili, etc. It doesn't taste greasy at all since it has so little fat in it. And here's what I always think about - if you buy and use 80% lean, picture 100buckets of it. 80 of the buckets are actual beef. But 20 of the buckets are filled with FAT! Gross! Also, something that people don't seem to understand: some people think they are saving money by getting 80% lean ground beef. But 20% is fat, and that fat winds up in the bottom of a skillet, leaving you with just 80% of the weight. So you are actually losing money. See what I mean? And think about what all that fat does to your arteries and your heart!
The only thing ground about this beef is when my jaw dropped to it when I tasted the amazing, bold flavors. Haha. Just kidding. It's decent ground beef. Why are you looking up reviews for ground beef on Walmart, anyway? Go back to doing your homework, or filing your taxes, or hugging your pet. Do something else.
like everything else, value is increasing, which in a budget is making it difficult to buy frequently. As for the product, it is good quality, and most of the time, fat content is consistent with advertised %. However, as of late, with the recent increased value, there has been an increased fat % that resembles more the 94-6%.
This hamburger was NOT 96% lean. It was full of the sinew or tendon and for the most part inedible for me. Usually I pick the package myself and its great. Unfortunately this was a part of a delivery order %26 apparently quality isn't important to the shoppers.
Originally bought 2 packages that were lean and delicious. then bought 4 more times and could not eat due to gristle. Had to throw away 4 packages. couldn't return, as did not have a receipt and threw packaging away, thinking it would be good, as were the other 2 we bought.
This hamburger is expensive nowadays and every time I get an order it's always expired or expiring the day I get it or the next day. I would not recommend buying this meat here unless you come in the store and get it yourself. I purchased two of those packs almost 5 lb of hamburgers expiring that day. $20 a pack if you're not selling it don't freaking send it to me!
Ordered on Friday and item had 1 day to the expiration date. When they are shopping for someone they should review the expiration dates and select the one with the latest date. or contact me to see if I still wanted it knowing I had one day to use it.
It had to be tossed out ! Used the same day as purchase to make Chili. Browned it, I can't smell really well I have been on oxygen for a few years %26 my sense of smell, well it's kinda broken lol ! Anyway I drained it %26 rinsed it with hot water ( my normal prep, getting rid of all grease ) Then I made my chili as usual did not switch up 1 thing. Husband got a bowl %26 instantly spit it out. He said "taste that".... So, I did! It was absolutely (((((SOUR LIKE SPOILED MEAT %26 TO BE HONEST THAT TASTED NOTHING LIKE BEEF !!!))))) Well there went a $45 right in the trash %26 garbage disposal!!! Sure don't feel like Walmart saved me any money that day !!! I mean my mind started thinking all sorts of things ... Was that beef ? Did the delivery driver do something to it ? if that wasn't beef what did I just put in my mouth? The questions in my head just kept running !
Every time I order meat through this service, the expiration date is either the next day or within 12 hours of delivery. It makes it impossible to plan meals for the week. If I want to make burgers mid-week, I can't — because the meat is basically expiring the day I receive it. It's really frustrating that shoppers consistently choose packages with the closest “sell by” or “use by” date instead of selecting ones with a longer shelf life. Customers ordering groceries aren't always cooking the same day. Please train shoppers to check expiration dates and choose the freshest options available.
