Excellent for use in MANY recipes for replacement of regular milk. Great taste and a healthy substance. Used in cookies and other desserts. Also in regular meal vitamin recipes. Able to freeze unused portion for many weeks! And the cost... outstandingly wonderful!
Walmart substituted this coconut milk for their great value brand. I had ordered 12 cans, but I guess they didn't have that many at the store and they substituted about half of that order for this one. I did a taste test just now on both of them. This Thai version tastes perfect and is thick -- just right for smoothies. I use the word "thick" because I recently bought a coconut milk brand from a major grocery store, and it was much cheaper but not very thick. It was like water almost. This Thai brand is thick and creamy and has a great coconut taste. I drink smoothies every morning and keep an ongoing supply of it in my fridge. I mostly use bananas, strawberries, pears, peaches, and pineapple slices. This coconut milk really gives it that last extra touch of flavor and texture.
Have you ever tried to make this stuff by hand? Let me tell you brother, it ain't easy! You got to first of all FIND a coconut tree then you gotta somehow persuade a coconut to fall on the ground, then you gotta go buy a machete and whack the thing open and scoop out the insides and squeeze out the coconut milk through a cloth! Whew! Or you can buy this here. Just cut open the lid and pour her out. But shake it up first, the can I mean, so it pours out ok.
This coconut milk taste is good. I use it as a creamer in my coffee. Although, the price has gone up recently so I might just pass on it. It was a good value when I first started buying it. But, thankfully, this is more of a pleasure purchase than an absolute necessity. The cost per ounce has gone up, so it's not as appealing when making my food purchase decisions. If they can get under and keep it under $2 a can then, yes, the product tastes good and I would buy again. Otherwise, it's just too expensive per ounce.
By far the least expensive coconut milk I have found locally. Not loaded with sugar. The consistency is not great. When I open the can I run it through my nutribullet to blend it. Takes a minute but end up with a great outcome. Use it in coffee, soups, baked goods and other recipes.
One of our favorite dishes is Malaysian chicken and potato curry in coconut in Coconut milk. It adds a much-loved creaminess and flavor, to not only curries, but many other dishes and desserts. I also use this to make Coconut fudge, coconut "mounds" bars, and coconut flan. Whenever the recipe calls for milk, just use coconut milk instead! Highly recommended for curries, soups, and desserts alike. Everyone needs a little Taste of Thai.
I like TK much better. I wanted to try other brands for cost effectiveness but it just isn't working for me. I didn't like it in my coffee and I felt the consistency was a bit weak compared to my go-to. I don't even want to try it in my desserts. I am using it in my smoothies until it's gone and then I will buy my favorite.
I ordered a case of coconut miilk and other item. Which total over $40. When I got there was only 6 milks and brought my order down under$30 and I was charged 6.99. I think it's unfair I was charged this6.99 when I made my purchase of everything and was over $40 and everything was available at time. Due to technical problems when I got to pickup my something was wrong with Walmart WiFi
Do not buy this brand. The coconut milk is highly diluted and is not comparable to other brands I've used. At first I thought they are all expired and double checked the expiry date. At the end, all the 4 cans ended up in trash as they all looked they have gone bad.
1 Star Very disappointed with this coconut milk. As soon as I opened the can, the color looked off—it was a pale yellow instead of the normal creamy white color I expected. There was a thick layer of oil floating on top, and the rest of the contents had completely separated. The texture was especially concerning. It wasn't just lumpy; it had a strange gooey consistency, almost like squeezed paint or clay mixed with oil. It did not look, pour, or mix like coconut milk at all. Even after stirring, it remained separated and had an unnatural appearance. I've used many brands of coconut milk over the years, and this is the first can I've encountered that looked like this. I ended up throwing it away because it did not seem suitable for cooking or consumption.
