A Walk in the Woods (DVD)

If you like Robert Redford you will enjoy this movie. If you were fan of the The Way We Were you will now how he was a writer in the movie and he is a book writer in this movie, he play's Brice who what's to walk the trail through the smokey mountains. The scenery is great in this movie.

We were laughing though the whole movie

Good movie. Great views. However I will not recommend buying it online at Walmart. PURCHASED and PAID online and it took more then 3 weeks to get to the store. Arrived to the store on 3/4 and I was out of town for a week. When I tried to pick it up the next Friday Walmart had cancel the order, refunded the payment and returned the item. You have to wait 3 weeks but they can't wait less than one. Bought it again somewhere else.

I had purchased this DVD movie over a year ago at Wal Mart. I gave it to a family member. I couldn't find in it in store after that in store. I was looking for it on other Websites for this movie& was unable to find it. I looked on Wal Mart website&found it for special price. I ordered 2 DVD's.I picked it up 4 days later after confirmation that it had arrived.I have had not watched this DVD movie again. I will order movies again or other products when desired.I enjoyed this movie very much although I heard it didn't do as well in the Theatres.

I loved this movie. Loved Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. Two of my favorites. I'm getting ready to watch again.

This was a good movie, but could easily have been PG, if the inappropriate language, which really did not seem to fit the characters, had been eliminated. I had read the book and was just a little disappointed in the movie.

Except for the un-neccessary, occasional unacceptable language, this movie would have gotten a 5-Star Rating from us!!! So Funny!!! We laughed til our faces and sides hurt...

The advertising on the packaging indicated I would receive a digital copy as soon as I scanned the receipt and I did not receive such copy.

If you're a fan of Bryson's book you'll likely want to see what they did with it in this film, but you're more likely to enjoy it if you haven't read the stellar book. The movie is an ok watch, but leaves a lot to be desired - particularly with the casting. Bryson and Katz are nowhere near the age of Redford and Nolte, and casting the lovely Kristen Schaal as Mary Ellen was a bizarre choice. The movie omits a lot of detail in terms of where Bryson and Katz are geographically - especially when they stop into towns. Also left out are Little Debbie's, the throwing of things on the first day of hiking, the cabbie from Gatlinburg, the anthracite belt, and the Hundred Mile Wilderness. Oh, not to mention the fact that grizzly bears appear in the film despite no grizzlies living East of the Mississippi. A pleasant treat was Emma Thompson as Mrs. Bryson, and the portrayal of the Beulah incident was rather good. If you like the book, watch the movie anyway - I still found it pleasant despite the shortcomings. If you've never read the book (and why haven't you?) you have nothing to lose.
