Good enclosure, terrible shipping speed
It's a great box. I am running 2 Crucial MX500 SSD drives in RAID 0 attached to a 2012 Macbook Air via USB 3. It works perfectly. Be careful because it ships with two USB A to C cables. One is for power and only carries slow speed. The other is a high speed cable. Youll figure out quickly which cable is which. Also the dip switch diagram in the instruction pamphlet is incorrect. There are only four positions and youll figure out wuickly which position is for which setting. Great bang for the buck. Brilliant and simple elegant design. Build like a tank.
very good and work perfect
I like the metal cabinet, the low profile and simple functionality of this RAID enclosure. I was able take my RAID 0 configured HDD 1 and HDD 2 out of a faulty box and slip them right into the Acasis without re-formatting!
Item didn't work at all.
I bought this to use as a raid 1 media storage device. installed the drives (two 3tb), set dipn switches to raid 1, formatted, and tried to use. the save speed is about 300 kb/sec. i will not live long enough to save all my files! tried to contact manufacturer, have heard nothing.
If you put your HD's in this device backup all data before hand. I didn't lost almost everything. Now after formatting both drives the device is preforming correctly. Just backup, I had 2 6 TB both hall full. I'll ad the installation didn't go as planed put one drive in and it did not work, added the second and it recognized both. Paid 46.00
RAID Function seems to work OK. Tested with RAID 0, RAID 1, and JBOD modes with a matched pair of toshiba 2.5" hard disk drives. Disk Read/Write speed is on the order of USB 3.0 speeds, ~ 100 MB/S using benchmark testing. Comparable performance to other USB 3.0 SATA external disk enclosures that I own. Dual Drive capacity with RAID functions is a useful feature, my main reason for choosing this item. One concerning item, is the behavior when the external power supply cable is attached and drive is disconnected, as enclosure causes the drives to make concerning noise under these conditions. I'd advise against using the auxiliary power unless needed, and disconnect that first before disconnecting the data cable. Using a SATA SSD does significantly increase read/write speeds, to around 300 MB/S peaks.
Disks go to sleep every 10 seconds or so of inactivity. Almost unusable unless doing constant bulk transfer. Even editing a doc is painful waiting for disks to spin back up every few seconds. No solution online. Enclosed manual is only in Chinese. Support seems non-existent.
Under "SPAN" mode, the usable size is way below the total sum of the individual disks. Contacted the seller multiple times (even had the Walmart customer service rep to send message to push them). No single response from the seller.
