I usually splurge on Dave's bread but I'd been wanting sourdough so I tried this bc it's whole grain plus sourdough. I really like it and in addition it costs less than Dave's bread. I appreciate very much that Walmart appears to try to keep better prices in this trying time we find ourselves in.
I prefer this brand to all Walmart's half dozen of so options of sour dough bread at my store. It has minimal ingredients, uses a real sour dough starter, doesn't taste or feel highly processed, slices are more uniform in size unlike those of round loaves, texture is rustic and has a good price point. It makes great grilled sandwiches and French toast. I hope Walmart will do better to keep this in stock.
I really like this bread because it's light and airy, yet thick, if that makes sense. You really see the sourdough effect, and taste it. I feel like it's something I would find in Paris. I used to eat the other oven label brand, which is very different texture than Ace Bakery... and l like Ace better. And when toasted, which l recommend, oh my goodness, absolutely delicious! The crusty crunch mouth feel. The flavor of the bread comes alive. Just keep in mind, because of the sourdough recipe affect, the slices can have some holes, so condiments, butter, peanut butter, jelly, honey etc.,, may drip through, but nothing a plate couldn't catch. Highly recommend.
literally the best store bought sourdough i have tried . i made my husband his eggs and toast with this bread this morn and he asked me when i had made that loaf so that told me all i needed to know. i gotta say its truly the perfect loaf of sourdough
I'm sensitive to a lot of chemicals so I try to avoid them in food. This bread has none of the things I avoid, and it tastes great. I love it toasted with butter and jam. Great crunch to it when it is toasted. Definitely tastes like an artisan bread and not much of a sour flavor in this recipe, which I like. If you want a more sour flavor they also make one called sourdough instead of this one.
I truly have not found a good sourdough bread. This was pretty good. But so far from any that I have purchased, including this one They mold quickly. You do have to make sure you are eating it every day, and I have no problem with that. i loved it as toast. I used it with Cali gold. Irish butter and I am looking forward to trying it with Land of Lakes, Garlic and Herb butter which also has good reviews and a really good price at Walmart
I love a good textured sourdough bread! This one had a good flavor, nice slices %26 toasts really well. Pricey in comparison to some but worth it for different or special sandwiches. Just need a better re-sealable way to keep bread fresher longer. Once bread has been opened, had to use my own bread bags to keep it fresh.
Pretty good tasting bread, but not for all bread applications. The holes are pretty big so sauces slip through and get your hands messy. The crust tends to tear away from the slice. I found the best use was as a bread next to your dish of food instead of food topping a slice.
I am not certain what i think about this bread. In France and the UK, it tastes more like homemade, which my mom taught me how to make. As bread goes it's ok, but doesn't taste anything like sourdough. The price also seems high, but EVERYTHING is expensive. I probably should have purchased cheap white as I am spending over $200 a week on my own grocery list. YIKES! I Am 70 yrs old and I live alone, and I never order steaks and seafood.
I was so looking forward to this bread 😋 I love really authentic sourdough, the tang and texture. I LOVED the Essential brand, but Walmart doesn't carry it anymore. So this seemed promising, for a good price... but alas, I am still waiting. It was just delivered today, it is 9 days before the expiration date and it is MOLDY! (not flour 🧐)... I have know who is at fault in storage, but I hope it gets fixed. I will try again next month 🤞
