This series is very humorous with colorful characters. It is not a comedy, per se, but it is very funny. Doc Martin says exactly what most people only think but wish we could say to his patients.
My wife and I watch episodes available on Netflix. This enables us to start at the beginning of the series and go to the end of what is available. Then we start over at the beginning and watch every episode again. I've read on IMDB that there is a season/series after the last series available on Netflix, but I don't know that it is available in the US.
Particularly like the "extras" - a great value.
Love the sires. Film quality is good.
Got into this series, viewing regularly in the 5th season. Starting with Series 1, am `catching - up` now with the story. Doc Martin is a great program - well-concieved, interesting, sometimes hiariously funny, with keen insights on human nature and (British) small-town living.
We have watched various episodes of Doc martin but sometimes it was after Louisa was pregnant and others were before she and Doc were dating so thought it best to buy the series and view it in chronological order. Even though we have seen some of the episodes before now we have them in chronological order which makes more sense. Well worth the money.
Bought series 1 & 6, because 2-5 can be viewed on Netflix. We hate that the series has ended for us ( & friends) as it is so enjoyed ~~~ we will miss not having the next series to watch NOW!!! We watched the series on PBS, but had to buy the 1 & 6, to lend to friends so they could watch. Series 6 has not shown in our area yet on PBS.
I love just about everything about the series, especially the acting, the photography, and the familiarity of some of the subtext. Henry (an audiologist)and I have even had fun in noting some of the errors in medical statements. Can't wait for Season 5.
Martin Clunes, actor(Dr. Martin) does such a great job on this wonderful series. He is so awful you love him anyway. I purchased and just watched season 1 because I needed to know how it all started and the last scene when they kissed and he asked her if she had good dental care and she kicked him out of the car was so funny. I am now watching this on my cable network and love this show.
I began this series late in season 3 and wanted to start at the beginning. It is wonderful. I didn't give it 5 stars because I'm a little squeamish and I could have done without the chicken neck ringing scene in the pilot episode. Thank god it seems to be the only one in the series so far. It's not knee slapping funny. But I love Martin Clunnes. He seems able to do or say anything with a straight face. And for someone so mean, you really do root for him to settle down, calm down and get the girl.
