AcuRite 02020 Portable Lightning Detector

Just had the opportunity to check the lightning detector in an office environment, as a thunderstorm rolled through. As long as the unit was near a window, it quickly registered strikes. I had to restart it a few times as it surpassed the 199 strikes level that the display has for an upper limit. Will see how it performs in a home setting next. So far, it's doing its job!

Works dependably exactly as expected. Never disappointed with their products.

I like it a lot the color display and the mini speaker on the device and the beep you can switch it off for 60 minutes or turn it back on the only thing i do not like is the interference when i am trying to use the device indoors i have WI-FI in my House and a laptop Computer i relocate the device from the computer and tv. I would like to know will you guys make a mini carying case for the device to protect it from rain if you get caught out in the rain to protect it sense it is not waterproof.

Took this with me to a local fair that had predicted showers in the area but there was no lighting in the area. I will carry this with me when ever we are out and the weather is prdeicted to have storms looming. Will be a great tool to have when doing HAM radio in the field.

The only check I have is the local weather forecast and observations, but this thing appears to be dead on.

I don't know that I needed a lighting detector, but it is interesting to log the strikes around our home. Seems pretty accurate based on seeing lightning and hearing thunder. We will take it when we go hiking on days with storms in the forecast.

I have it hanging On my kitchen curtain rod and it's on 24/7 . The Batteries last for every, It's been since November that I turned it on . So about 5 months and they are still going . It has recorded Strikes.

Great products that continue the long legacy of AccuRite's manufacturing of high grade reliable meteorological instruments. My Lightning Detector and Hygrometer work really good.

I have not really used this outside at this point.
