No more crawling up the roof to change the batteries.

My AcuRite weather vane is high above she's and in really cold weather would require batteries be changed. I would have to get tall ladder and still have to reach. This remote battery pack is great solution and works well. My biggest surprise was how easy it was to I stand cord plenty long so barrister now inside shed. Very pleased

Hi Acurite, My 5 in 1 is mounted on the peak of the pitch of my roof which means I climb up there to change batteries. I was in the process of making a remote battery pack for it using D size batteries but your unit was turn key. I can now get to the battery from under the patio. Great idea. You should consider a lithium battery and a solar cell, that works well for the security lights.

I really like the convenience of the remote battery pack. I no longer have to drag out a ladder and climb on the roof to change batteries. Now I can just walk up to the battery compartment and change the batteries. I have one on each of my weather sensors.

This remote battery device is an excellent idea. I think it should have been part of the original one in the first place and just increase the price to compensate. My system is up high and would be a real pain to replace the battery. This device is down near ground level. Excellent idea.

We've had an AcuRite 5-in-1 weather station for several years. Overall, we have been very pleased with the unit, but there were two improvements we had been hoping for. One is the ability to power the unit remotely instead of going up a ladder to change batteries. The other was the ability to forward weather data directly to WeatherUnderground in order to make sure the most current data is readily available to our sprinkler system and other appliances. We now have both and are extremely pleased with the result.

This was a replacement for one that wouldn't function more than a couple of weeks with new batteries. That unit was approximately eight years old. The length of the wiring is approximately three feet shorter than the original, but still has plenty of length for my installation. I replaced the old one with this and it is still running without fault.

This works great but, it says it's only weather resistant not weather proof and should be mounted in a sheltered area. I mean seriously it's for a WEATHER station. Step up your game guys and make it weather PROOF. By this I mean a simple rubber gasket around the compartment. It's not rocket science.

I didn't order the plug, but thanks. As far as the rest of the system, it won't join or publish to weather underground as it should. I have several other problems with the straight to WiFi receiver, that will only publish to the WiFi display screen and not the app. I also have several problems with my first of two atlas sensors losing signal even though there's new batteries in it and it has been located at the same place for two years. The first time it started dropping signal it quit publishing to weather underground

Warning, this unit is very fragile. On the 1st one I bought I broke a wires in 2 places…once when I stapled too hard and the second inside (a bit of user error, I disassembled unit so that it was tight on mounting screws.). Here is issue: a 30' run requires very thin gauge wire, 28ga(?) to carry 3VDC to unit, without voltage drop. But this makes for very fragile wiring that I wish had been better specified. Since I am an old man, and my wife won't let me on tall ladders, I repurchased. I did open unit and 'potted' solder connections, I used low voltage specific staples and very carefully installed them by hand. All good so far after 1 week….
