Get weather and forecast from your backyard

Raezer October 3, 2018

This review is for the Acurite Model 00622M Pro Color Weather Station with Wind Speed. They make 2 versions, I have the Dark Theme. I go camping a lot, about 120 plus days per year and take this weather station with me. By knowing existing weather and weather forecast is a huge help to me. I have made this weather station portable for my needs. I have mounted the wireless outdoor sensor on a camera tripod for quick setup for short term camping and a 2nd collapsible telescopic extension pole for long term camping which I setup. The patented self-calibrating AcuRite Pro Color Weather Station provides me current and forecast for 12 to 24 hour weather conditions. From my short term experience, you must get the wireless outside sensor up in the air for a more accurate reading as opposed too low to ground. The illuminated display is has 3 settings, 100%, 60% and 30% which is easy to read even at 8 feet away. The display is perfect to read the indoor / outdoor temperature, humidity and wind speed with daily, monthly, all-time high, low information, heat index, wind chill, dew point, multi-variable history chart, clock and calendar and indicator for wireless sensor signal strength. That's a lot of information to help me determine my outdoor activities or future plans. Also, the display can be placed on my desk or be wall mounted. The display dimensions are 7.7"H x 7.1"W x 1.3"D. The wireless outdoor sensor dimensions 9.3"H x 5.3"W. In the manual it states, use the AC power adapter as main power source, batteries are for backup power and used to retain records in case of power outage, batteries are not required for display operation. It uses 6 AA alkaline or lithium batteries which are used only as backup power for power loss and to use the included AC power adapter. The wireless outdoor sensor requires 4 AA batteries. If you experience cold temperatures, in the manual it says Lithium batteries recommended for temperatures below -4 degrees Fahrenheit/-20 degrees Celsius. It has a limited 1 year warranty. My test show the outside temperature was 2 degrees difference from my personal temperature gauge which is pretty good for the wireless sensor that is 70 feet away. The manual also stated the wireless max distance is 330 feet (100 meters) depending on home construction materials and the wireless signal is 433MHz. A friend of mine has this exact model weather station and lives in a trailer, but got poor reception from the trailer being made of metal as his wireless outdoor sensor was only 25 feet from the display. There is an ABC Synchronize switch in battery compartment on back of display and inside battery compartment on the wireless outdoor sensor and both switches have to be set on the same. I received my weather station having both display and wireless sensor being set to B. Having had this a short time I cannot attest to its longevity. I really like this weather station.

Excellent Color Weather Station

mitch1950 October 5, 2018

First off this is the 3rd Weather Station I have used and must honestly say that it is by far the Best of them all. This Station is Super Easy to set up as all you need to do is insert the 4 AA Batteries (not included) in the base of the Sensor and 6 AA batteries (not included) in the Display (for backup in the event of Power outage) Plug in the provided power adapter into the display and plug the adapter into your Power Line. All that you need to do now is place your Sensor outdoors and plug in the display. All you have to do now is set the Date, Time, and Units of measure and the main display will calibrate itself and you are up and running. The display backlight is not overpowering but is rather easy on the eyes. This unit is great for the monitoring of the weather conditions at YOUR home and not from a station many miles away. If you want to monitor your own weather, this is the unit for you.

RE: Cool Weather Station!

PhDt13 October 15, 2018

I received this product a couple weeks ago and just got a chance to set it up and it works really well. It is really easy to assemble the 3 in 1 sensor measures temperature, humidity, and wind speed and it takes 4 AA alkaline or lithium* batteries *Lithium batteries recommended for temperatures below -4 degrees Fahrenheit. It says to Mount it in an open area so I made sure it is above the level of my roof so it is unobstructed. I made a little wood Mount so it sticks out above the roof line. Make sure you level the Sensor because it will mess up your reading if you don't. Then I set up my Weather Station monitor away from any electrical equipment or heat sources. You plug in the monitor but it also takes 6 AA batteries so it will run when the power is out too. Oh, there is a setting housed in the battery terminal to set to A B or C. You need to make sure that whatever setting you select on the sensor is set the same on the monitor. Next I turned on the monitor and bam! it came on and it was measuring the wind speed, barometric pressure, and humidity. It also give you the forecast of weather right where your property is located. You can either put the monitor in a sitting holder that you can put on a table or flat surface or you can mount it on the wall away from heat and electronic equipment. Overall, this is an excellent product and plan to use it daily. I received this product from the Spark Reviewer program. '

On-Farm Use

LESLIE December 26, 2021

We use this on the farm here in Eastern Washington state as it complements the other weather information we receive from regional stations. It is a welcome upgrade to some of the analog devices that have been used on-site...especially grateful for the ease of measuring wind speed.

3 in 1 weather station....

h22o October 4, 2018

I hate to say this but this, but this is my first "wireless weather station". AcuRite 3 in 1 Weather Station has a very nice colorful "display with stand" (or you could hang), "power adapter" as well as battery backup (6AA) if power goes out to keep your readings current. I have this wall mounted, (and plugged in) and can be seen easily 10 to 12ft away. Included in this package is the AcuRite 3 in 1 sensor that gives constant readouts on "Temperature", in and out, "Humidity" in and out, and "Wind Speed" by the free spinning anemometer, and it's "all wireless". Other reading's include day/month/year /time, wind chill temp, barometric pressure, weather forecast icons, and history chart from the past 12 hours. I have had a couple of weather stations that require many feet of cable, wires everywhere, drill holes, tie down cables, crawling thru attic, yelling, "can you see the cable yet"? and now I'm in the modern world of wireless weather stations and it's nice. This is a great beginner's wireless station with all the basic features, with high end stations having the rain gauge, but this unit here is a great little station. Easy to install (4) batteries into the sensor, the internal sensor's (temp/humid) are protected by the radiation shield and water proof. Come's with mounting hardware for installing your sensor and placement guidelines for best accuracy, like higher the better, but remember, make your station mount to where you can easily change out the sensor batteries when time to do so. I know having just received this, the sensor will adjust to my area, as it's called a "learning mode". There are 3 different lighting setting's. (hi/med/low) with "auto dim mode" that adjusts brightness to the time of day and year, or run it wide open on bright like I do. AcuRite offers product registration with 1 year warranty, customer service staff, as well as there web site, AcuRite.com This is a great weather station and I know will last a few seasons, but the real test is ole man winter. So far so good, I love this station.

Great Fun for Amateur Meteorologist Young or Old

Mcarthurdw October 7, 2018

I got this just to see if a weather forecaster is more accrue than the local news. As we say in Florida, if you don't like the weather just wait five minutes. The AccuRite 00622 Pro is easy to use and I can find the information I wanted quickly. I just got this unit and I really like it so far. Set up is very simple, just put the batteries in both parts and the color display will show the information within a minute. Just a heads up, there is a small toggle switch behind the battery section on the wind gauge that has three settings, A. B. C. you have to make sure that you set the console to the same setting as the gauge, these are on the back of the console above the batteries. I really like the wind feature, with some of the storms we get here, its fun to check the gust, and I do wonder how well it will do in a hurricane? That would be a real test. I have compared the temperature readings to an outdoor thermometer I have, and they seem to be close, I think the AccuRite is likely closer to the real temperature than my outdoor thermometer. I like that it comes with an electric adapter that allows the color display to be on all the time. The only drawbacks I have found are that it cannot tell me from what direction the wind is coming from. Overall I think for the price it is a great toy for the meteorologist in all of us! I plan to get a few more as holiday gifts for some friends and family.

Accurate, But Limited

imawordman October 23, 2018

The first issue you will have with this product is that it is difficult to find a suitable mounting location if your home has gutters, which mine does. Also, range from the base station is very limited. The electronics and app work fine. It is accurate, which is probably most important. I am recommending this product as long as there are no set-up issues at your home. I'd definitely ask questions before purchasing.

Problem with outside temperature measurement.

Kaiser1 February 5, 2023

Setup was quite easy, although I found the instructions a bit clear. I have found only one problem that I find relatively serious. The outside temperature sensor can register high by 5 degrees OR MORE if air is calm and the sun is shining. It seems relatively accurate when there is no sunlight. Otherwise, I have found no problems.

Not as accurate as I thought

Bernardino December 25, 2022

The product is great at first. Kids loved it but there seems to be an issue since most of the time is showing on average 5 degrees Celsius difference, sometimes even 10 C. It may not seem like much but when outside it's 6 C for instance, the screen is showing 10 C and the kid on the screen is wearing only pants and a tshirt, no jacket no scarf no hat.
