love it !

LJ February 5, 2020

I love this jacket . It's lightweight enough to wear while running errands in and out of stores . It blocks the wind . I will need layers if I stay outside in below freezing temps , which is fine. I wear an xLarge and this is true to size . Flattering fit !

Light weight and perfect cool days and nights

Jetsetter December 19, 2018

This is the first purchase i made at EB online. I wear petite sizing and am wary of ordering online because i have had sizing issues with online orders from other retailers in the past. Luckily when i saw this jacket in a regular size in store, i tried it on and it gave me an idea of how it would be in a petite size. The petite large I received is perfect in sizing! As other reviewers have said, this is a more snug jacket hence the description as "athletic fit". I have worn this jacket everyday since i received it and it has survived the high winds and torrential downpours we have had this winter in Vancouver. Temperatures have ranged from zero celsius (32 farenheit) to 6 degrees celsius (42 farenheit) and i have not felt cold with this jacket on. Despite it's snug fit, i have been able to wear light layers underneath ( t-shirt, light cardigan, and scarf). If you like to wear thicker layers, I recommend you order up a size or two. Also, i walk a lot, so this jacket keeps me warm while i am out and about. I would not recommend this jacket for temperatures below zero celsius (32 farenheit), unless you layer this jacket under another jacket. You'd be better off getting a parka for those temperatures. TIP: if your jacket arrives flat as a pacake, thow it in the dryer on low with two tennis balls, or dryer balls to fluff it up. Regular wear will also fluff it up.

Perfect!

Happy Traveler January 24, 2020

I bought this jacket for a winter trip to London and Paris. It kept me warm and dry. The extra length kept my behind and upper legs warm; the sleeves were long enough for my long arms; and the hood stayed up even in the wind without the need of a drawstring. I could not ask for more. I bought XL to allow for extra sweaters, etc. and had plenty of room. I'm about a 12.

Looking forward to cool temperatures again.

Did I really.just say that?????? I absolutely love this parka. Love the color, dark Loren is beautiful; a.nice deep evergreen. l love the hood and overall weight. I think it'll get me through most of the winter. Seems better quality and warmer than I expected. This was my first purchase with Eddie and I am super pleased with the quality AND the fact that I can order Tall sizes. I loved the quality. I'll keep Eddie on my list. With the sale price this was a no brainer. 😊😊

Nice looking, warm, light weight coat

Ruby March 3, 2020

Great travel coat. Flew from a hot climate so I scrunched up this nice light weight coat and put it in my tote bag. Got off the plane in freezing weather. It was raining and I could hardly walk with the wind whipping against me but I stayed toasty and dry after I zipped it up. The hood was very useful, as well. On a spring day, I wear the coat open, which is a look I like better. I bought a large and maybe could have gone with a medium. Overall, a nice colour (ecru). Sleeves are a bit wide and long for me as I am a shortie. But that's not too much of a drawback. I'm still pleased with my purchase.

Totally Love this coat

Irene January 16, 2017

I love this coat. Super light weight. Shapely. A hood just in case. Definitely water repellant. Passes for dressy. Room for a sweater underneath. My mother has one too. I am small and she is XL and we both look good in them. Not for super cold days. When it's below 20 degrees I wear my heavier down coat.

Soft, light, warm

KP November 18, 2019

I bought this when it was on clearance with an additional sale discount and I probably wouldn't have purchased this at regular price. In a humid Canadian climate, I found this jacket could only keep me warm when used to casual walking until approximately 0 degrees celsius, but even that was a bit of a stretch. I purchased this with the intention of wearing it as a layer beneath other jackets, and it will undoubtedly work very well for that. The colour was listed as 'taupe' and is an accurate description. My only aesthetic complaint is that the sleeves are disproportionately puffy as compared to the rest of the jacket, and that it would be preferable if the hood were removable.

looks good on but not a lot of room to move

wintercanadian November 17, 2019

I bought this on clearance because I needed something between my wool coat and my big down jacket. I generally take a medium and ordered this in a medium tall. It is very fitted, so much so that you can't put a big sweater under it. I'm 5'9 and the length is fine on me but it may be short in the arms if you're much taller. Quality wise it is good but I don't know how flexible it will be if I can't layer under it.

Not warm, sheds feathers, tiny hood

Suzie Q January 18, 2016

I bought this jacket because I thought it would offer me the same warmth in a thinner jacket. It's not as warm as my previous jacket. Also, I know the smaller hood is less to drag around, but it offers absolutely no wind protection for my face. Finally, as with other Eddie Bauer jackets, it sheds millions of tiny feather parts all over my car and clothes. Very frustrating.

Works best as a baselayer or milder winters!

Gigi February 18, 2016

Got this in dark loden. A bit glossy but not metallic in color. I would recommend ordering several sizes as sizing doesn't seem to be equal-- Reg Small ran tighter than a Petite Small. Oddly. The warmth rating is for -20F, however the technology on this jacket does not make it friendly for those temps. Besides the slimming look here are some cons: -warmth rating is for -20 with moderate activity. At -10 and no wind chill I could be walking my dog at a moderately fast pace and I'm still not feeling the warmth. I personally think this jacket should be rated for something closer to 5-10F with moderate activity (not quite running). -lacks sleeve/wrist/glove support. needs thumb holes or something to keep warm around your wrist/gloves. If you do wear this jacket with gloves it's best if your gloves come with some kind of wrist support to keep the warmth in. Otherwise with regular knit or biking gloves the jacket sleeve would keep riding up to the end of your glove and expose your wrists to cold. Not fun dealing with this at below zero temps! There is about 1/4" of elastic at the base of the sleeve but not sturdy enough to stay in place. -zippers are teeny tiny. Fashionably they work but for -20 Minnesota winters, it is difficult to fix the zipper with gloves on. -not in the least bit wind resistant. Still feel the wind going through the material so not sure how they rank their wind resistance. Even at 20 above, I'm feeling wind going through the seams. -water repellant? Water will at first bead on the surface of the jacket but as time passes the water just soaks right through! Definitely not water repellant. -feathery! Teeny tiny feathers get stuck on clothing and it's such a pain removing them! If they're ending up on my clothes then the insulation must not be high quality. In my opinion Astoria parka works best as a base/middle layer underneath another parka, or as a jacket for milder climate winters.
