Since I only (try) to use OEM for certain things - specifically Electronics - I choose Denso - works and works with no problems.......... Highly recommend using!
After finally realizing I couldn't just clear my engine code and head to my smog place I started searching for a bank 1 sensor 1 replacement for my 2003 Toyota Tacoma prerunner. All internet sources suggested using Denso since they apparently supply Toyota with the original parts. After confirming on Autozone and Denso site that this fits, I found that autozone wanted $175 FOR THIS SAME DENSO PART! Ordered from Walmart and had it delivered to my house for $86. The fix was easy (thanks YouTube) and took me about 35 minutes since I have rather big hands and took some maneuvering. For this make and model all you need is a 12mm socket for the sensor bolts, a 10mm socket to remove the plug bracket to give yourself more room to work with, and a flathead screwdriver to push the clip in on the plug to remove. I think when I finally get smogged in a week I will have spent about $250 to renew my registration including the $86 part cost. An auto shop may very well charge you upwards of $400 just for the sensor swap. Buy the parts here and do it yourself!
This is a common part so I expect it to work as advertised...which it is. My main purpose is to offer installation advice. I unnecessary used a breaker bar to tighten the bolts after I installed the sensor. I didn't realize how much torque I was using and I busted a bolt on my truck. Luckily the O2 sensor is still securely attached to my truck even it is using a single bolt. Fingers crossed that it stays that way. I have been pleased with Walmart's car part inventory but I hope they continue expanding it.
I installed the part in the morning and drove to town and back. The next time I started my truck, the Check Engine light was off. The part was easy to install - took less than an hour. This sensor is made by the same company that provides Toyota with the OE part, so it should last. By the way, this part costs almost twice as much at the usual auto part stores!
Who think that with all the big auto parts shops Walmart was the cheapest by far!
