The quality of the cedar wood and the thoughtful waterproofing engineered into this coop is top notch. The latches were easy to install with exact placement and even had fixed inserts to simply bolt right up to it. Their is ample room for for all the bird's to coexist peacefully and happily. I really like this and I was ablebto assemble myself in only 3 hour's time yesterday even in a windy weather condition. The cage unfolds and you'll want to take note of the orientation as I first had it inside out, easy to correct and it bolts together very nicely. My advice is to hand tighten at first and then use a sceew driver to torque it down properly. I did use a powdered driver to install roof panels and the egg hatch hinges but I actually used hand tools to tighten up everything.
All the parts were included %26 took us 3 hours to assemble. Would like bigger stakes to hold to ground seeing we have more wind these days in our area.
Very easy to put together! My 7yr old and I 37yr old woman put it together. We had a couple doors backwards but was able to back screws out without splitting the wood. Very happy with purchase.
Way bigger than we expected. Really easy to put together. Our chicks love if... we actually have it in our living room!
Good coop for 4 chickens, sturdy and works well.
I received the coop in 3 large boxes, assembly wasn’t too bad. But the wood definitely had some cracks %26 digs. Not sure if it was due to delivery or production. But it definitely made it hard to put the screws if the wood is already cracked %26 damaged. Having wood glue is a plus just to ensure everything is secured. Would give it 4 out of 5. I have 9 free range chicks %26 it’s plenty of space for them.
With a few modifications this is a nice coop. I got mine on sale and then got primer and paint for inside/outside, better screws and hardware (hinges, locks etc), sealant for roof joints, and plywood to reinforce some weak areas, such as the wood around tray and nesting box. I just cut %26 painted the plywood and attached with screws. The kit was worth the money for convenience alone because it’s well designed. Just needs some simple upgrades to last and be predator proof.
It comes nicely packed, with parts covered in foam sheet and foam board protection in 4 separate boxes. The ID stamps are on the bottom of each piece and match up great with the instructions. The ad says the SRP of the coop is 900 , and while it is nice looking, it is no where near as nice as the 1k coop our neighbor has; a full height cage and a coop with storage. It appears the SRP is just meant to make it appear that the $680 is a bargain. It does assemble easy enough and I do like that it has alignment dowels and receiver holes to make it a lot easier to screw together. The doors are already attached and the thick steel latches that have a safety type of catch to 'lock' them are much better than our first coop and its thin stamped metal latches that bend with just the slightest pull. The locks do not all line up with the cradle on the door frame. The front doors into the main coop area have a large gap between the door and the frame; in a hard sideways rain, the metal tray is going to be a mess. To address it temporarily, I took a plastic sheet and cut it a little longer and wider than each door, attached it inside and above the door, it then slips out the top of the tray slot, allowing water from the doors to drain out and keep water from going in the tray slot. The screws for the roof P5's were short in supply, to adjust I only used 3 in each piece that connects the roof panels [2 in one side if the piece on one panel and 1 in the side for the other roof panel]. The wood is also soft enough that should some one not be familiar with bit drivers and when to stop, it will simply strip the wood out leaving the screw useless. The nesting boxes lean to's roof latches do not line up, they just fit over enough to keep the lids closed [I took the latches off and re-oriented them to work properly] Once assembled, it does have plenty of space for the 6 chicks we have and the nesting boxes seem to the usual size. The "anchor stakes" are a joke honestly, simply a thick wire bent into a "C" that only goes 5 or 6 inches into the ground. We live in NW Fl, so we have a few storms with high speed winds a few times a year, these simply will not do. Already plan on putting in 4 screw in auger type anchors for attachment points to attach a ratchet strap across both ends of the coop if a high wind storm is forecasted. Assuming shipping is part of the price, it brings it to about 570 for the coop. if it were $300 [with s%26h inc} I would rave about the coop, but at almost 700 .. We should have shopped around. Looks great, but not worth almost 700..
This is a nice coop for three chickens. It would not hold more than 3. The wood is cheap so be sure to paint the inside and waterproof the outside to make it last. Latch on back of nesting box lid is cheap. Needs to be upgraded. Need heavier screws for nesting boxes lid as well. Even though it's movable, you still have to unscrew all the fenced area to move it so you don't damage/bend it. Vinyl cover is super flimsy. Needs to be upgraded. Has zip ties but does not address in instructions. All parts were intact. Looks bigger in pics.
This is an adorable coop/ hutch. So here are the pros and cons: very cute, easy to assemble, could probably assemble alone but 2-3 people working on it helps speed it up, nice nesting boxes. Con: NO way this can accommodate 8-10 chickens. Maybe2 larger breeds or 4 Batam. I only gave 2 stars because if you’re looking for space for up to 10 chickens this will not work. I am using this as a nursery coop for young chicks as they grow to join the flock. So it’s ok for that. I will have to add on if I was to accommodate more girls. It looks adorable though. Photo shows me beside the coop. I am 5’4”. Coop is little!
