I have recently received the AKAI professional MPK mini MK3 25T USB MIDI keyboard controller which has eight backlit drum pads, eight knob controls and MPC music production software. Although this keyboard is more geared towards experience music makers, it is also easily learned and understood by a novice like myself. The array of samplings and software included is very nice and you'll have all the sounds you need to create your own beats and tunes straight out of the box. I've spent hours just playing around with the sounds and the many options that it has. This MIDI controller has so much packed into such a small portable size its amazing. A great gift for the friend/family member that is into making trap, lofi, rap music, or sound effects.
really excited about this product and immediately downloaded the included software packages which promise to be a lot of fun. i was able to use the software immediately but have still not figured out how to integrate it with the actual MPK mini device. unfortunately 12 years of classical piano training did not prepare me for using midi equipment - i cannot figure out how to get a single sound out of the device.
We got this keyboard as something to play with and have fun with but after trying to set it up, we have gotten a bit frustrated with all the downloads and access requirements and we still haven't even gotten it to make a sound. Now granted, my husband and I are older but it would have been more helpful if the instructions were a bit more basic for people new to this. We will keep trying and hopefully, figure it out and make beautiful music together.
