ALEKO 16 x 10 ft Sand Motorized Retractable Patio Awning

Purchased the Aleko 16' x 10' motorized awning. Set up wasn't particularly complicated but I did need help mounting it because it is so long. The fabric hasn't faded in half a season of intense sunshine here in the desert, and all components are just fine up to this point. This awning looks great, serves its purpose of blocking the sun and keeping our patio cooler, and functions well. This replaced a 20 year old awning that the sun had ruined and the quote from a local awning company just to replace the fabric was $1700. This brand new awning was one third of that cost. Highly recommend.

Love the awning! With that said it was the WORST project I have ever done!!! The instructions were awful! The video was poorly done. It skipped steps you needed to know! I called the help line, I guess it was close to time to close, the guy was nice , just not full of information. After taking parts off and rearranging a few times, we got it!! More than a weekend project!

Very happy with this purchase. Read the instructions twice and assembled it myself and only needed help attaching to the house. Customer service was great to deal with and would purchase again.

You need to be handy to assemble and adjust this awning perfectly. Instructions are good but could use additional clear pictures. One of the 3 large tubes had got damaged during shipping. I had to perform a cold rework on it so it could slide on the connecting block smoothly. I struggled a bit also with the remote initialization. The procedure says to unplug the wire for 10 seconds and then go through the button pushing sequence. I had only triggered the circuit breaker thinking it was equivalent to pulling out the plug, but this is what prevented the initialization to go through. Once the right procedure done everything worked fine. Note also that the fabric used seem to me like a very good quality compare to what I had before from another manufacturer. I am very happy with this product and would recommend it for people that have mechanical skills.

ALEKO Awning Installation: Bring a Friend, a Swear Jar, and Possibly NASA Before installing this awning, set up a swear jar. By the time you are finished, there should be enough money in it to host a 12-person barbecue—with beer. This project started with Wally and his buddy, both confident, reasonably intelligent men who believed they were simply installing an awning. That confidence lasted until the spring-loaded arms entered the conversation. Those things have so much tension that the entire installation quickly becomes a fighting for your life situation. Handle them incorrectly and they appear fully capable of tearing your head off and launching it into the neighbor's yard. Then we opened the directions. One section clearly tells you to install the arms in a certain orientation. The very next section basically says, “Unless the motor is on the left, in which case install them in the opposite direction.” Wait—what? Whose left? My left? The awning's left? The house's left? Are we standing outside looking in or inside looking out? At this point, the instructions stopped being directions and became a philosophical discussion about perspective. Wally's buddy eventually had enough and left. Wally then went to get the neighbor, who spent about an hour studying the manual. We could not tell whether he was researching the installation or proofreading the directions for ALEKO. He finally returned carrying what appeared to be a slide rule and a computer. That was the exact moment Wally's awning stopped being a home-improvement project and became a NASA mission. Measurements were taken. Calculations were performed. The motor location was confirmed. Several theories were debated. Somewhere along the way, somebody shouted, “Moo Mopo, Buckeroo!” Nobody knows what it meant, but morale improved briefly. Against all odds, the awning is now installed, it works properly, and it actually works very nicely. It looks good, provides plenty of shade, and operates smoothly. The final product gets five stars. The installation experience gets one swear jar, three confused adults, a slide rule, and clearance from Mission Control.

Decent product if it arrived with all the correct parts. I had to contact the manufacturer directly as it was missing a central support which caused the awning to snap once installed. The company was great with sending the needed part. Unfortunately, this product was incredibly difficult to install so unless you have a team/professional installers it's not a project that can be completed in an afternoon. Also, the awning was advertised as navy blue….we definitely did NOT receive navy blue.

Parts embossed, scratched, seems as a second hand parts. How to claim?? Canvas is ok. Two kinds of instructions for the control that cause lost of time.

This awning is garbage. The material is thin and after 6 months it now leaks through material when it gets wet it "sweats". Save your money get a better brand
