What I needed for backyard project.
We were trying to match another water barrel that we bought several years ago. We couldn't find the old style but this one is a perfect match in color and height. It looks great but it needs a little water in it to be stable because the bottom diameter is small.
I was having problems finding the rain barrels that I wanted without paying an arm %26 a leg. I was on Walmart.com one day and thought, maybe I can find rain barrels here? OMG! There they were and bonus, they came with 2 spigots and a planter in the top! One arrived without the package with the spigots %26 teflon tape. All I did was call the manufacturer and they shipped it out to me right away! Seems like no one has that kind of customer service these days! I love these so far but I ordered them too late to plant flowers in them this year. My only suggestion for the manufacturers is that there needs to be some built in hooks to anchor them down. We live where it is super windy and we placed them on huge pine tree rounds to level them and then drilled hooks into the wood and ratchet strapped them down. They aren't as ascetically pleasing as I would like but at least they are secured! I'll have to keep looking for some ratchet straps that match better Thank you for the wonderful price and service!
looks nice. Spigot and connecting spots not well made. Can't fond connector for barrels.
This rain barrel is made of a pretty heavy duty plastic material, so it should hold up to normal use. I do have a complaint. The position of the water spigot is located about 18 inches up the side of the barrel. This means that when you siphon off the water, you can never really empty the barrel (unless you tip it over and pour out the water below the spigot). The spigot should be installed lower to ground level for more complete emptying. Also, the top of the barrel has a ""planter"" area, but it is only about 3 inches deep. I'm not sure what you can plant in so shallow an area. No rain since I received the barrel, so I haven't use tested it yet.
Nice looking barrel that's why 2star just make sure to check for soft spots on the bottom that's where it was leaking from
While this looks exactly like we wanted - I am certain it wont last more than a season. The plastic is extremely soft and thin. The entire inside of the barrel came full of plastic shavings and the cut outs from the top hole. The planter is too shallow to actually plant anything. The brass spigot on the front didn't screw in well - and the plastic garden hose spigot on the back was completely stripped and the ball closure leaking. I replaced with another one i had lying around and it will do for this season. I wouldn't recommend this unless you need a temporary option and get it cheap.
Unfortunately, while the Athena rain barrel is attractive and large, it was poorly packed and arrived dented in fully on one side. In addition, the spigot did not fit and the overflow valve was placed in back, against the wall, making it very hard to reach. I had a professional installing it and he has had trouble getting it to work.
I've ordered the rain barrel twice in brown the first time I got one brown and one gray. Returned the Gray second time I got Gray after I ordered brownstone. Are your people colorblind? Is the box marked incorrectly and no one bothers to check? It's a very slipshod way of doing business. I'm disappointed, I am angry, I'm irritated. I need the brownstone rain barrel. How hard can that be?
It appeared the spout had been reset. Unfortunately I should have sent it back but was anxious to collect rain water. Once it gets to the the gold spout it starts to leak.
