The will to survive and the human spirit are on full display!

One of Redford's very best performances in his stellar career. The humbling experience of man against nature that's full of suspense and drama. The cinematography is brilliant! It is shot giving you the feeling of being participant rather then just an observer. It's absolutely entertaining and it might get you feeling a bit introspective.

Be sure you listen at the beginning and pay attention to what he is saying. I think there are only two other times in the movie where there is any dialog. Movie is good and very well acted, filmed etc. One socially unacceptable word said - only one time and he yells that. I think most people would have used it long before he did. I like the fact the film was not full of foul mouthed exploitations during the hardship. No graphic, gory details. Gives you a respect for the open water if you did not already have one. Good movie - my husband and I both enjoyed it. I have no desire to be way out in the water where I can not see and at least think I could access land! LOL

This movie was like watching someone change a tire on the freeway. What a waste of time

I did not think this man could make a movie that was bad. I was wrong. ( Happens a few times a mt. lol me being wrong ) He says maybe 6 words all cuss words But he is on his own.....Tom Hanks was on his own But talked to Wilson. BECAUSE NORMAL people do talk to themselves when they have no one around at all for extended periods of time. Even if it is to a ball. lol Ok if you liked Clooney's movie of a ship in a storm you might could like this. The one thing I learned from this movie is NEVER GO SAILING by yourself in the ocean. NEVER....If you liked silent films you might could like this.... But it is not for everyone. But then what is?????? I love Redford as an actor. I hated this movie I gave it to the library and told the head libarian the story, She said " So you decided to give to us so we could trow it away, instead of you??"
