Almay Pressed Powder, Medium Meets Deep

I love this product. It is the only over the counter pressed powder that matches my skin tone perfectly, without leaving a gray hue on my face. Thank you for being the one retailer who still makes it available.

I received Almay pressed powder in shade 500, Deep Like Me, for review. On the outside, I like the compact. I appreciate when brands separate the powder from the applicator and mirror. However, the compact could be a little easier to open. Both sides open from the same spot and it can be a little difficult to get a hold of. The item is not marked with the number of months it is good after it's opened. Confusing and disappointing since it is a very helpful number, seen on most cosmetics, even on other Almay products. The color I received was much too dark for my complexion. I didn't not wear it after I tried it, so my review may be short a few details. First, the powder went on smoothly. It had a soft finish with a nice natural glow to it. It was dark enough I could tell a significant difference in coverage from using the included applicator pad and my own powder brush. The puff gave a more opaque coverage, while brush was more sheer. The packaging claims the product is hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested, and oil free. I didn't notice any problems with my skin during or after use. My skin is particularly sensitive, but my nose is. Thankfully, the powder is also fragrance free. I has only a faint scent and did not cause me any scent-related issues. I believe if I had the proper color I would be highly satisfied.

Took me a while to try this out, as I accidentally ordered the wrong shade. I had to find someone who was willing to let me do their makeup and try it out on. I love the coverage and it is such a good product for sensitive skin. I would definitely recommend.

I got this product over two months ago but have struggled with how to write this review. Since I am a huge fan of Almay and all the beauty products they put on the market. I never thought I would write one review that wasn't singing their praises; yet here I am writing my second in as many months. The product this time is Almay's Pressed Powder, the shade Deep Like Me. Let me preface this by saying that I have no issues with the actual product, the powder itself is glorious and I would love it if I would have gotten it in the correct shade for my skin tone. I mistook the naming of this product “Deep Like Me” to mean that it was for deep pored skin type, and because I selected it from online there were no color swatches showing what the color of the powder, it never occurred to me that the color would be a darker shade. So, while the actual pressed powder itself was fine. It was the quality one would expect from an Almay product, silky soft, easy to apply, long lasting, powder that doesn't irritate even my daughters super sensitive skin. However how good can a make-up product be if it is the wrong shade and you can't us it. Because of Almay's poor product naming I cannot recommend this product.
