I loved this game as a kid and they made it even better. this is the game that inspired Resident Evil series so if you like that you will love this. Also the main character is the sheriff from stranger things, I thought that was pretty cool. This is a great game overall and I would recommend getting it if you like Resident Evil like games, just with a little more mystery,

This new Alone in the Dark game really took things back to its 1990s roots with updated graphics and gameplay mechanics. It is a survival horror/detective/action adventure-style game. You do not necessarily have to play the original games in order to get up to speed with the story as its a reboot of the first game made in 1992. You get to play as either a detective (Edward Carnby) or the woman (Emily Hartwell) who hired him to investigate the disappearance of her missing uncle. Once you choose your protagonist, you cannot change them until your next playthrough. In other words, whoever you don't choose in your first go around, you may do so when you start a new game. However, given the aforementioned circumstances of the characters' relationship and goals, their paths do intertwine. This is a relatively short game and it can be completed in under 10 hours with an average of 3 1/2 to 4 hours per protagonist. It has interesting puzzles, decent combat, cool collectibles as well as vast and highly interactive exploration that's influence can be seen in similar series that would follow such as Sherlock Holmes, L.A. Noire, Alan Wake, The Evil Within, The Quarry, Until Dawn, The Dark Anthology, etc. If you enjoy any of the above games, this new Alone in the Dark is well worth playing. While it has its flaws such as a lack of enemy variety and short boss battles, hopefully, this is the beginning of a revitalization for the franchise rather than a one-off reboot.

It's a good game. It's like Resident Evil with the style of play because of puzzles set to solve. There is a glitch in the game where you get stuck in certain parts.

Having been a major fan of this series for a long time, I must say this is a return to form with also some new improvements. This game has( I believe) given the Alone in the Dark franchise just the right direction it needs to resurrect it. The graphics are pretty good, and the atmosphere is creepy, and the gameplay is fun. It has just enough familiarity for long time fans to enjoy, as well as some new things to create new fans. It has puzzles that you must solve to proceed with the story, and creatures that will attack you when you least expect it. Overall, I would highly recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a straight up fun horror game, with puzzles that won't make you overly frustrated, and those who may be bored with the same old genres, and yearly releases.

I really loved this game. Game comes with a very intriguing storyline plus great game play. This is a must buy for any horror fan.

The game overall does not capitalize on its full potential, but it was still worth a play through. If you enjoyed The Sinking City, this should be up your alley.
