The scent is very mild but fruity. I like that it's not strong because the point in the shampoo is to reduce skin irritation, plus, I don't want my dong smelling like anything other than a clean dog. It lathers up really nicely, just make sure you add a little water before you add more shampoo otherwise you'll be rinsing forever to get it out. My dog came out shiny and, dare I say, pretty - he's a male so don't tell him I called him "pretty" LOL! He's still itching but not as aggressively as before. This shampoo did not completely stop the itching but at least it calmed it down significantly. It's still worth a 5 star rating because it did make a difference in the itching. Oh! and it came with a free sample of dog food/treats which he loved. I also really appreciate the fact this is made in America!
My shepherd has skin allergies to certain foods. This seemed to really smooth the itching associated with it. This company sent a sample of oatmeal dog shampoo also. I used the oatmeal shampoo first then twice with the medicated shampoo. The second med shampoo I feel was the key.
We bathed our Golden Retrievers with this dog shampoo today. They both have skin allergies so we need a good medicated shampoo to treat their thick coats. This shampoo has a slight medicinal smell, but nothing overwhelming. It lathers sufficiently and is easily rinsed out of the coat. I also noticed that the dogs didn’t have the “wet dog” smell after bathing them. It seems as though they haven’t been as itchy since switching to this shampoo, which could be because it contains an antibacterial and an anti-fungal. The only downside I would say is the price. It is an 8 ounce bottle for $19.99. To me, that seems pricey, but if it works, I would be willing to pay it.
I have purchased this once before on a different platform. I was so happy to see Walmart offer it. I have a poodle/mix who has an allergy to grass of all things. I ran out of the expensive vet prescribed shampoo. Decided to give this one a try and it has worked great. My dogs shampoo cost more than mine does! But at least it tremendously helps her skin allergies. So far we have not had a breakout since November. The vendor also included a nice sized sample of puppy formula shampoo/conditioner in one. I also have a Maltese, and this is for bright white coats, so I am really appreciative for that. They also included a sample of dog food. so nice. So yes all in all I do recommend this chlorhexidine medicated shampoo. It has worked for my dog.
Perfect timing. I treated my Yorkie with liquid flea and tick medicine last. Poor thing had an allergic reaction. I gave her an oatmeal milk bath. She still kept scratching. Groomer used a medicated shampoo on her 2 days ago and she still scratching. I feel so bad. I will try this to see if it will help. Crossing my fingers.
This shampoo smells ok but it really helped my dogs itchy skin. He has allergies and this really helped with his scratching. He is so much more comfortable and is happier.
smells mild and pleasant. our sweet doggy gets itchy skin from allergies, so we're looking forward to using this product for her next wash. she's about 65lbs ... I'm guessing, given the bottle's size, we'll get around 3-4 washes out of it.
while Kitty Friend was not proticular found of having a bath he smelled amazing. His coat is soft and shiny .
Trying this for the first time, it's not as thick as other medicated shampoos I have tried, so it's easier to get the lather going. It lathers nicely, rinses easily and it smells nice. I haven't seen any negative effects so far. I can't attest to the long term, as this is my first try. As an added bonus, I also received a free sample of an oatmeal shampoo as well.
My dog has allergies and struggles with licking his paws. I have been searching for something to help relieve him and this was a great add to his wash day routine
