AMACO Air Dry Modeling Clay, 25 lbs., White

Grear to work with. 25 lbs was plenty for 30 students!

This clay is fantastic! I have arthritis, my husband always has to knead my clay to soften it so I can use it. However, this clay is soft, %26 smooth, I don't need any help to get startered. Its grey, %26 water can be added (small amounts at a time) to smooth out finger prints or if left uncovered %26 it gets dry. I had 1 small crack in a finished piece. However, I think it was due to a space in my foil shape underneath. I dipped my fingertips in water and dampened the edges of the break, then smoothed fresh clay over it. The crack is gone. Also I looked everywhere this price is unbeatable! I'm extremely happy with this purchase. I'm definitely going to buy more! With the easy clean up %26 low cost its a great deal for adults %26 kids.

I love this claim I have bought it so many times and made so many different things out of it. I like to make little gnomes, mushrooms and other little figurines with it and then paint them. This is perfect play since I have no way to bake it. The only problem is every time I order it the price goes up. However I will continue to order either this white or the gray

I really liked how this was so easy to shape. I baked it in the oven because I was in a rush and it turned out perfectly.

Clay was shipped promptly and packaged well. Easy to work with. As taught in art school -keep it wet and most to avoid cracking. Clay is pliable and suited for many sculpting applications. I am a professional sculpture, I do human figure and faces. I feel this product is a five rating.

I used this clay last year and really liked it. It's got a lot of workability for elementary kids and doesn't dry out so fast when they tend to overwork it. This clay is basically a ceramic clay. I definitely wouldn't use without a kiln. It's not really usable as an air dry clay. When dry, the pieces are pretty much dry earthenware (previous reviewer used the wrong term). It breaks and cracks easily. I fired this clay at cone 04 and glaze fired at cone 06 with low fire glazes and my students pinch pots and etc were beautiful. If you need an air dry clay, I recommend Crayola or making your own using cornstarch and baking soda.

Once it dries, some pieces crumble and fall apart, easilycrack. Its keeping a grey color (not white) 'til kilning at a low temperature. After be painted with acrylics, the layer can be peeled off easily *Sealed with varnish. I'll try adding a little more of white Glue / baby oil to experiment flexibility). Let's see.

I ordered 500 pounds of this clay to make Christmas ornaments with our K-5 school. I am so disappointed. I wanted to use air day clay so we didn't have to bother the high school teacher in using her kiln at this busy time of year. The ornaments dried and are breaking into little pieces with the slightest touch. They seem to be in the bisque stage. I will never order this brand again.

This air dry clay was not strong after air drying! The items made fell apart when we tried to paint them.

Just FYI - this is NOT Air Dry Clay - yes, it dried when left out - as opposed to oil based modeling clay - but it is ceramic clay and needs a kiln. I am sure it was good ceramic clay - but as I dont have a kiln and there are NO RETURNS for this - I was just out $30.
