We got ours a few weeks ago and it works great. Quiet, cools nicely and seems to be pretty good on the energy bill.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently purchased the Amana 6,500 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, and I'm quite impressed with its performance. Here's a detailed review based on my experience: ### Cooling Power The Amana 6,500 BTU Portable Air Conditioner offers excellent cooling power for its size. It's highly effective in cooling down my medium-sized room quickly, even on the hottest days. The air distribution is even, ensuring that every corner of the room feels comfortable. ### Energy Efficiency One of the standout features of this air conditioner is its energy efficiency. Despite its powerful cooling capabilities, it doesn't cause a noticeable spike in my electricity bill. It comes with an energy-saving mode that optimizes performance while conserving power, which is a significant plus for anyone conscious about energy consumption. ### Noise Level The noise level is quite manageable. While it's not completely silent, the sound is more of a gentle hum that fades into the background. It's certainly quiet enough to allow for a good night's sleep or to watch TV without distraction. ### Portability Portability is a major strength of this unit. It's equipped with sturdy casters and a lightweight design, making it easy to move from one room to another. Whether I need to cool the living room during the day or the bedroom at night, relocating the unit is a breeze. ### Installation Process The installation process is straightforward and user-friendly. The window kit included fits well and the instructions are clear. I had it up and running within 30 minutes without any professional help. The unit also comes with a detailed manual that guides you through each step. Overall, the Amana 6,500 BTU Portable Air Conditioner is a solid choice for anyone in need of an efficient and portable cooling solution. It combines strong cooling power, energy efficiency, manageable noise levels, easy portability, and a hassle-free installation process. Highly recommended!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] so good the noise level is ok the process is very easy and good installation is amazing my daughters love it so much helps very much for them and y yeah
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This portable air conditioner was very easy to set up. It took me about 10 is minutes to get it ready and it actually cooled them room down quite fast. My only complain is that I wish it was more compatible with different types of windows but other than that I think its great and its not too loud either.
Beware no replacement parts. I had to shorten the window plate with a hack saw. The exhaust vent hose broke when I tried to attach it ,so I duct taped it until I can get a new part from costumer service---wrong, Customer service referred me to WalMart who said the only option was to return the unit. I spent about a half day on installation and the unit is in my cabin, 20 miles from the nearest walmart. I am 70 with a bad back. I had to get help loading the unit--so I guess I am stuck with the duct taped part. I called Amana back to see if I could get a part number, which is not in the documentation. Someone is supposed to call me back for advise on where I can get parts. Most of what I buy on line is through WalMart and I have gotten parts plenty of times, like for the lawn mower I bought. I have always had a good experience, except for this one time.
The unit was attractive and the functions worked well, but it's just too noisy when in A/C mode. It's made for a small room, 250 sq. ft, but too noisy for a small bedroom.
Stopped working after 2 months. The compressor kicks on but it only blows out warm air and doesn't exhaust any hot air. I purchased the extended warranty but since it's only been 2 months I have to file a claim through the manufacturer.
