I'd give this camera a solid 4 stars, especially as a budget-friendly, non-destructive security option. The physical setup is excellent; it's a discreet, well-designed unit that sticks to the window without any drilling or permanent changes, which is a huge plus for renters. The packaging was also impressively eco-friendly and minimal. While the 2K resolution is acceptable, I found it wasn't quite detailed enough for reliable facial identification beyond 10 feet, but for general monitoring of a front porch or entryway, it definitely gets the job done for the price. It detects motion or people and night mode is clear. One day my husband was working in the "detection area" I drew, and the camera announced something like, "We are contacting the owner!" That was an unexpected surprise.
The main drawback is the software experience. The app is not intuitive and I struggled to get mobile notifications to work—a problem if you're using it to track package deliveries. I also encountered a few connectivity drops and found the interface pushes cloud subscriptions even when using a microSD card for local storage. If you're willing to put up with some app "quirks," the camera itself is a great value.
