All gas, no brakes, this is the real deal 3rd gen Ryzen 7 3700X with 8 cores and 16 threads. Upgraded from a 3.1 Ghz dual core so my mind is blown. Running all my games 1080p with no lag or throttling. Very happy with what AMD has done in the past few years; you can't go wrong with this. The included Wraith heatsink is a monster - make sure your case and motherboard can hold it.

It is a truly impressive CPU. DO pay attention to the AMD online instructions for item selection as well as installation, and maybe a YouTube tutorial or two. When placing the heat sink ON the CPU, you get one go at it, then have to reapply heat sink compound. Not that big a deal, but an absolute must to get right. Once installed, and running, this is an excellent CPU. I suggest giving it plenty of system RAM to work with. It runs very cool with only the supplied air cooling heat sink and fan. The motherboard controls fan speed for best cooling. It's the quietest running fan I've had on any CPU in over 30 years of building.

I used the stock cooler for this CPU, and my temperatures are staying within the recommended operating range playing AAA games at high FPS with a RTX 2070 Super. This is a great CPU, I'm glad I saved $100 over the Intel i7 9700k!

The mounting hardware for the Ryzen 7 cooler is different from the Ryzen 5 cooler so make sure you have the correct mounting bracket - I was stumped until I found something that worked in my spares box - remember - never throw anything away! Needless to say the AMD instructions are microscopic and pretty useless.

After searching in many web sites the best price was Walmart. This processor runs a bit higher temp than the I7 from intel, no big issue with modern water pumps and construction materials. Has 8 chores which makes it a bit faster than the i7 from Intel although it uses more power also. I used a Corsair 850 power supply and a Thermaltake pump as the cooling system with only one fan on the pump. Runs great.

Make sure you have the right heatsink backplate. When I had installed my first CPU, a 2200g, it used screw-on heatsink. The 3700x comes with a beefy heatsink that uses clip-on tabs. Should be standard with your motherboard if you haven't removed it as I did.

This is a proven High End PC processor. The performance to price ratio is very good with the Ryzen 7 3700x. I bought it specifically to run Microsoft Flight Simulator. I wanted the hyperthreading and large number of cores to maximize the throughpt. I matched this CPU with a quick SSD, a x570 motherboard, 64GB of RAM and a Geforce GTX 1660 super video card. Now I am running Flight Simulator at 1080P wth no issues, and I'm glad I bought the Ryzen 7 3700x. The low TDP of 65 Watts is very efficient, and allows me to save energy in comparison to the Intel porcessors that I used before I bought this Ryzen CPU. Paired with the Geforce GTX 1660 super at only 125 watts I am able to play the most challenging PC games without pumping out a ton of wasted heat. You will be happy if you build you with this CPU.
