Lightning fast processor
All gas, no brakes, this is the real deal 3rd gen Ryzen 7 3700X with 8 cores and 16 threads. Upgraded from a 3.1 Ghz dual core so my mind is blown. Running all my games 1080p with no lag or throttling. Very happy with what AMD has done in the past few years; you can't go wrong with this. The included Wraith heatsink is a monster - make sure your case and motherboard can hold it.

Worth the upgrade
The mounting hardware for the Ryzen 7 cooler is different from the Ryzen 5 cooler so make sure you have the correct mounting bracket - I was stumped until I found something that worked in my spares box - remember - never throw anything away! Needless to say the AMD instructions are microscopic and pretty useless.

Make sure you have the right heatsink backplate. When I had installed my first CPU, a 2200g, it used screw-on heatsink. The 3700x comes with a beefy heatsink that uses clip-on tabs. Should be standard with your motherboard if you haven't removed it as I did.

One very FINE CPU!
It is a truly impressive CPU. DO pay attention to the AMD online instructions for item selection as well as installation, and maybe a YouTube tutorial or two. When placing the heat sink ON the CPU, you get one go at it, then have to reapply heat sink compound. Not that big a deal, but an absolute must to get right. Once installed, and running, this is an excellent CPU. I suggest giving it plenty of system RAM to work with. It runs very cool with only the supplied air cooling heat sink and fan. The motherboard controls fan speed for best cooling. It's the quietest running fan I've had on any CPU in over 30 years of building.

It's great for gaming and multitasking!
I used the stock cooler for this CPU, and my temperatures are staying within the recommended operating range playing AAA games at high FPS with a RTX 2070 Super. This is a great CPU, I'm glad I saved $100 over the Intel i7 9700k!
