A tense and entertaining crime drama. The 70's backdrop is very realistic, giving us a high dose (hee, hee) of true, gritty 70's New York drug culture. The acting is perfect with Denzel and Russel owning their roles. It's a keeper.

The following is a great film, 100% not for kids under 13. Great film to have playing in the background at a party with no kids under 13.

Great Movie!
Fantastic movie with Denzel Washington in the lead role and as a gangster rather than a hero. Great to see his range of acting skills.

interesting
one of my favorite black gangster movies. you usually only see the Italian gangster movies and the black gangster has been overlooked for years until now. the acting from all the actors is top notch and they had really good writers and a good plot line that kept you interested all the way to the end. and the end was really right on. a lot of movies nowadays really don't have an end and this was just like the old time writers used to do when Hollywood was kicking it. I hope anyone that reads this goes in and checks out this good film.
