This was fairly easy to set up other than the umpteen screws that had to be put in by hand. It took ne about 2 1/2 hrs to get it together. If you are looking for a quick setup this is not it. You will need to use included glue to glue dowel rods into shelves and alot if things need screwed together. Putting on the second side is tricky. It's pretty wobbly until you put the back on but feels pretty sturdy after that. Be careful with the screws because they don't give you any spares. I think the crack down the middle cheapens the look, but it will eventually be covered by books. This is a great size and I love the bottom cubby for toys. Definitely worth the price I paid for it. It was on sale for $63. My son loves it.
This bookshelf is amazing. Put it together with my 5-year-old & my 1-year-old, although he kept trying to eat the glue. Easy to put together. Very very sturdy! Extra pegs and screws (more than this type of shelf usually has) to give it more strength & stability. For the low price I paid I expected the usual cheap thin wood that would be ok for a kid's room but wouldn't last forever. But this is not like that. It's really good quality. I was pleasantly surprised.
I purchased this bookcase to replace an old one that was about to fall over from the weight of my books. The box was left at my front door, by FedEx, and was pretty heavy to drag in by myself. Because of the weight, I was intimidated to put it together by myself but I did after the box sitting in my living room for a week. It took the better part of a whole Saturday afternoon to put it together and I ended up with a nice blister in the middle of my palm from all the screws (there are A LOT of screws). I went meticulously slow, following the directions to a T. It turned out great. It was taller than I thought but perfect for my needs and I love it. I'm not sure why it's called a kids bookcase because it look great in my living room.
absolutely love, just as the description. fairly easy to build. the backing isn't just that flimsy paper backing and it's actually good quality and screws in. I might just buy a second
I bought this for my daughters room it has a nice height and each shelf hold 20 lbs so that helps with all of her books it is one of the better quality bookcase's I have purchased looks high end-I also did store pick up so less damage due to other reviews. Went together well nice and sturdy. It is a little darker than her other Espresso furniture but not a big deal.
Sturdy and was easy to put together. My daughter loves it !!!
Beautiful piece of furniture. Very sturdy no saggy shelves and easy to put together. Just love it!
The shelf wasn't perfect, but the blemishes were minimal and over all the shelf worked perfectly for my needs. I put the shelf together myself and it took about 2 hours (I did open the box where it was delivered and carried a few pieces at a time to where I was going to assemble it as it was rather heavy). There were no written instructions, so I had to search for those online, and a few boards were mislabeled, but it was easy to figure that out.
Looks good and quality is okay (for particle wood), but one of the screws ended up breaking out the front of the bottom rail. Of course calling the number for a replacement part resulted in the typical "Oh, that part is out of stock" (yeah, surprise surprise, I'm sure it is). I wasn't about to disassemble the whole thing to return so I'm just doing my best to patch/cover it (or maybe rebuild that piece out of real wood).
We ordered this bookcase to go in our 4 year old daughter's room. I viewed several on many websites before deciding to purchase this one through Walmart online. I liked how it had several shelves as well as a bottom compartment for a few toys/stuffed animals. Because of the fact that on other websites, I read reviews on this bookshelf where people complained of damage to shelf; we opted for the store pick up option, thinking it would be handled more carefully. We waited a week for it to arrive and once we picked it up (which turned into a bit of a hassel) we open the box to still find damage in 3 different places. We proceeded to put it together being as how it's going in our preschoolers's room..I don't expect it to remain perfect. It's just disappointing when you spend the money on something and wait for it to arrive only to see that it's already messed up. Overall, it's good bookcase and she loves it. It looks good in her room and despite her large amount of books, knik-knaks, she stil has space for things on the very large shelves. I highly recommend anchoring it to the wall because it's very light weight despite its size. It was fairly easy to assemble, not even an hours' worth of time. Just be prepared to see some damage.
