I'm SO happy with this blanket - I can't believe it's as inexpensive as it is. This is the first stable blanket I've found (and I've tried tons) that doesn't rub my thoroughbred's shoulders and chest. After a month of freshly clipped wear, alone and under a turnout, he doesn't have a mark or a lost hair anywhere. It layers well, stays put, withstands playful all-day turnout worn under another layer, and the weight will be perfect for a chilly northeast winter. I love the easy-to-manage-with-gloves front closures and the warm-but-light fill. I would love it more with leg straps, but it stays put without them. I do find it to run a smidge big - the 72 is a few inches longer than my guy, but it fits him beautifully through his shoulders and body.
Best , warmest blanket I've been so happy with on a long term. I have a 17-hand Draft Cross . With a draft shoulder & butt, and the amigo just wraps right around him. No rub marks I was convinced he would have. I have not yet need to layer the blanket due to its wormpth .
A nice lightweight easy-care stable blanket. I've had these for several years to use when the night temperature drops below 30 in the barn. Keeps the horses warm but not overheated. They are easy on and easy off, very important on my farm as we are always in a hurry! They wash up easily in the washer and air dry quickly hanging in the basement. A good investment, good value.
I bought 3 of these 4 years ago (2 light weight blankets and 1 heavy weight) for my unclipped 15.3 warmblood in size 78. The lighter ones are perfect pajamas for her at night in her stall with Dutch door open when the temps are in the low 50s/upper 40s, and even when it's in the 20s and the door gets closed to keep the barn temp in the 40s. When it gets colder than this, I switch to the heavy blanket, and for teens/single digit temps I add one of the lighter blankets beneath the heavy one and simply clip the top tail cord snap to both rings and they stay perfectly in place!. In the morning, I replace the top blanket with her turnout and she's ready to go!
For as long as I can remember I have purchased the same brand of sheets/blankets for my horse. This year I needed a new stable blanket for a horse show on short notice and the brand I normally buy was out of stock in the size I needed so I purchased this one. This blanket made me wonder why I had been buying the other brand for so long and never tried anything new-- this blanket is a game changer! What I love the most about this blanket is that it is lightweight while also providing warmth. When you pick it up it feels as light as pillow versus other blankets I have used in the past that are just plain heavy. I also love that this blanket can be used as a liner, it comes up high enough on my horse's neck that I don't worry about it rubbing her withers when worn under another blanket. I also found that this blanket fits true to size -- my mare usually wears a 75 and I purchased this in a 75 and it fits perfectly.
These Insulators make Winter blanketing easy Adding 1or ( sometimes) 2 Insulators under a turnout makes a lighter turnout into a genuine storm shelter. Alone these are wonderful warm but weightless stable blankets. Best of all they can be washed and dried in my own washer & drier so they're always clean.
This is the perfect stable blanket in 100gm fill for protection when it's not super cold but still too cold to be without a blanket. The fabric is perfect: slick without static, easy to put on and off over the head.
These blankets are great as liners under turnout sheets. Easy to wash with blanket detergent in the washing machine & line dry. Change out the tail cord with the bungee cord for easy cleanup.
I'm very satisfied with this blanket. It's lightweight, so it makes it easy for me to use. It kept my mare quite comfortable through several single-digit nights. And it didn't take long for her to get it good and dirty: threw it in the washer at 7 a.m. and by 3 p.m. it was line dry. Washed up very nicely. I have used other Amigo products, so I bought this without hesitation and believe I'll get many years of good use from it.
Our young OTTB has worn this blanket for two winters now - I wanted to see how much he was able to destroy it before reviewing (he is a blanket destroyer). We bought the 100g weight for use in the stable and under his turnout sheet for added warmth. This blanket fits fantastically on our narrow 16hh guy. The front clasps with velcro as well as the belly straps are still in great shape - putting on and taking off is quick and easy. This blanket doesn't shift at all and also keeps our guy nice and warm but not too warm! I definitely recommend this blanket!
