Loving the fit and quality of this blanket at an affordable price. Love the feature of leg straps versus tail piece! Fits my very stocky QH perfectly!!!!
I've had many, many issues with other blankets I've tried on my Quarter Horses and Paints. The wider horses tend to have issues with rubbing on the shoulders--but not with this blanket. This blanket is excellent. The satin-y liner keeps their hair shiny and the blanket is durable enough that we've had no problems with rips. They do a good job keeping the horses dry. I plan to buy another of these blankets quite soon, as one of the older blankets I bought from a different blanket company has fallen apart completely--after only six months.
The picture showed a horse with the neck cover on with the sheet. Had to read down below that neck hood not included. Totally missed that. could have gotten sheet elsewhere for cheaper without the hood. Otherwise looks like a very nice well made sheet. % stars for Amigo. 2 for smart pac.
I was a little bit nervous about ordering this blanket because of the poor reviews. I have an APHA gelding who normally wears a 78" (80" in the Rambo Stock Horse). He's more of a "modern" build and isn't too stocky. I ordered an 82" since everyone said that these run small. It fits him just right in the shoulders, but has quite a bit of extra room in the body and butt. An 80" probably would have fit. Overall, quality and craftsmanship is what I would expect from Amigo. Good blanket for the price, but will not fit bulldog build QH's or anything with a broad chest/shoulders.
I have a broad Dutch Warmblood and this blanket was much too tight around his chest. If my horse was more normal sized I would've kept this blanket as it was a good price, nice looking, and good quality.
I bought this as a second sheet for my gelding who lives outside. It's held up well so far and the quality is great considering the price! For 600 denier, it's held up well! I only wish the front buckles were adjustable in length.
I bought this blanket for my really stout Appaloosa. I liked the price and I already had an amigo mio fly sheet that fit him perfectly. It is a great looking blanket that is good quality and well worth the price. It does however run small. The other mio I have for him that fits perfectly is is a 75 and he tapes at a 74 so I figured getting that size again would be okay especially since it was made to fit big chested and big butted horses right? Nope it's about two sizes too small. I would still recommend this blanket but I was just tell whoever it is to buy larger than you need.
I bought this sheet hoping that it was what Horseware advertised it as... the replacement for their Rambo Quarter Horse line of blankets. NOT EVEN CLOSE. I sized up because my mare has finally grown into her body. I knew the quarter horse blankets Horseware used to sell were sized differently, she wears a 72 in a regular rambo, she wore a 74 in Rambo Quarter Horse. Because her butt stuck out a little I decided to size up to a 78 (her son, who is bigger could wear it if all else failed). WRONG.. she's 14.3h and weighs no more than 900lbs, very typey quarter horse, big butt, big shoulders, pure muscle but obviously a small version.. her butt STILL sticks out of the 78 in the amigo stock horse, particularly when her head is down eating.. It will still work, and looks waterproof, so I'll stick it out, after all it is VERY reasonably priced. The quality was not nearly as good as the rambo quarter horse blanket, not as durable looking and only two surcingles instead of the three on the rambo. Look, I understand they think quarter horse owners won't pay as much as warmblood owners.. but I'm much more disappointed with this cheap purchase than any of the expensive Rambo products I used to buy when I had warmblood shaped horses. Those products are worth the money. They really missed the mark and the market with this product! Such a shame they got rid of a great blanket with the Rambo Quarter Horse.
I purchased this turnout for my QH reining bred mare. She is the epitome of a "stock horse" (short legs, big butt, big barrel, wide chest). I ordered the sheet and medium weight embroidered because I figured this would be the perfect fit for my QH. It was far from that. The shoulders are very narrow, and the drop is very short. The REGULAR amigos fit her better than this STOCK HORSE turnout. Her belly hangs out and the shoulders are tight. I just figured when I ordered the stock horse turnout, it would be a good fit for broad horses... as "stock horses" are bred to be. Good value and a nice sheet... just would be better suited for a TB.
As a follow up to my previous review of this product. I had also ordered a 72" STOCK HORSE turnout for my stocky pony. Not only did it not fit him... I couldn't even buckle the front unless it was halfway up his neck. Since it was embroidered, I gave it to a friend to try on her 2 YEAR OLD ARAB/TB.. and no joke.. it fits him perfectly. Definitely not a stock horse turnout in the slightest!
