An American Christmas Carol

i have been trying for years to get a reasonably priced dvd version of this movie and always seem to just miss out on walmart.com this year i saw it on my birthday and bought it. this is a fantastic movie and henry winkler is so much more than the fonze. get it quickly because it will be gone soon.

DVDs sometimes get scratched.

My brother and I saw "An American Christmas Carol" when it first aired on TV in 1979 and when it was repeated a couple of times after that. We really enjoyed this retelling of the Dickens' classic. But then it was never on TV again! We could never understand why it was never replayed nor was it available on DVD. Until now! As soon as I learned I could purchase a copy, I scooped up one for myself and one for my brother as a Christmas gift. He couldn't believe it. He was overjoyed. This is a must-see for anyone who loves the story of the old miser who learns the true meaning of Christmas through the visits of three ghosts on Christmas Eve.

Based on Charles Dicken's Christmas Carol this is indeed a great and entertaining rendition of that timeless classic brought into an American scene. Henry Winkler and the other cast members each contribute to the story line. If you want to purchase a classic "American" Christmas Carol for your holiday viewing pleasure or to give as a gift I recommend this dvd highly. You will not be disappointed and you will own a trully cult classic video!

My mom old boss produced the film that's why we bought it. We were happy to get it so fast and that it was inexpensive.

I have An American Christmas Carol on VHS tape. I wanted it in DVD because I play it every year and don't know how long the tape will last. This movie is a classic with Henry Winkler. Also on DVD there are the extras that tell about make up & interview Henry about his role in the movie.

Great heartwarming Christmas movie for the family. Not quite as good as traditional Scrooge story, but very good in its own right. Nice historical time references. I remembered seeing it some years ago, and still love it.

I prefer this US depression era version over all others I have seen. No spectacular special effects but a good relaxing story. Growing up in small town America, I can relate to this version much more easily than the older English versions and it's better than the newer versions I've seen. It looks a bit more dated now than when I first saw it 30 years ago but the depression era setting helps keep it more timeless. It maintains a subdued style but less dark and depressing than the traditional versions even though it is set during the depression. The "ghosts" are really just people so it is not scary for kids either, though I'm not sure it would keep their interest either. Also includes an interview with Henry Winkler regarding getting this role, etc. I don't think this would make my top ten Christmas movies anymore, especially for kids but would make my top 20.
