Mint chips

Linda August 9, 2016

These were used to make a grasshopper cake and it was awesome. It added enough mint taste so that it was mellow instead of strong. I received numerous rave reviews on this cake as the melted chips made it extra moist. The only change I would like to see is quantity. I had to really stretch to be both in the cake and decorate the top.

Disappointed – Got a Solid Block of Chocolate Inst

Anonymous July 26, 2026

I bought a bag of Andes Crème de Menthe Baking Chips expecting convenient, pre-cut baking chips to use in a recipe. Instead, when I opened the package, I was greeted by a single, solid, melted-and-resolidified giant block of chocolate. As you can see in the photos, what was supposed to be a bag full of layered mint chips fused entirely into one thick slab. It appears the product experienced severe temperature fluctuations somewhere along the supply chain or during storage, causing all the chips to melt completely together and harden into a chunk. On top of that, the chocolate shows clear signs of fat or sugar bloom—a spotty, powdery white-and-tan residue covering the surface where the cocoa butter separated. While bloom doesn't necessarily make chocolate unsafe to eat, it ruins the appearance, texture, and overall quality. Having to chop up a rock-hard block defeats the entire purpose of buying pre-portioned baking chips in the first place. I am extremely disappointed with this purchase. Quality control and proper temperature management during shipping or in-store storage clearly failed here. I won't be buying these again anytime soon unless I can guarantee they haven't been ruined by heat exposure. Pros: * Classic Andes mint flavor (if you're willing to hack away at it with a knife). Cons: * Completely fused into a solid block instead of individual chips. Severe chocolate blooming (discolored, chalky appearance). Defeats the convenience of baking chips entirely. 😔
